This is the toughest section to predict up north cuz of everything. strength of schedule, coaching, etc. Crookston capable, roseau tough and experienced, Warroad good and recruited statewide, anyone comes out of here!

As a matter of fact lettitice, it was on this website taken from a citiot newspaper. Check the scores thread. It may get changed before you get back here but the poster also questioned it. 8)

Letitice wrote:Sorry but EGF does not have that many weapons..... Remember the last time Ctown and EGF met? It was not a contest whatsoever. EW and the Pirates will take care of business and prepare for their run down the stretch, Crookston 5, EGF 1. :D
Dear Letitice,

You and "Sioux Rule" have the complaceny to go down in defeat. As a warrior the number one rule is that you must never under estimate your opponent. The Pirates are a better team but the table has been set for this upset. The Pirates are on the road, they have under estimated their opponent, and the Eastsiders have more desire to win. (High School hockey is 80% desire.)

Maybe you, the Sioux and I can get together to discuss this at the Lodge after the game Thursday?

The rivalry between Crookston and EGF goes deeper then Hockey but carries over from Soccer. I don't think anyone will be taking it easy on both sides and both will leave it all out on the ice. I pick Crookston by 3 goals.

Good point, Cowboy. I believe, especially with girls, it is mostly desire that will make a difference. I will have to say that EGF will come out full steam ahead right away but will run out of gas and the Pirates will come out on top, 5-2. :)

"Besides the practical knowledge which defeat offers, there are important personality profits to be taken. Defeat strips away false values and makes you realize what you really want. It stops you from chasing butterflies and puts you to work digging gold."

The Pirates will learn a valuable lesson from this game which will propel them to the section finals. "Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be acheived."

Good luck Lady Pirates :!:

Oh brother, mother! You are so full of .... wisdom! The pirates are pretty young but also quite experienced in their own rite. I think along the road they have traveled, they have learned plenty from their losses. I trust it is enough to get them past EGF with a win once again this season. The girls from C-town will not overlook their competition on Thursday night in E-town. They indeed DO control their own destiny and EW will make sure of that!

Sounds like Roseau and Warroad had another classic battle! Were you there or listened? Just wondering how it went besides the score Had hoped to listen but was at a meeting tonight.

I was there. It was a very good game. The best between the two all year. Both teams played well. The reffing for the most part was good. It went baqck and fourth quite a bit. Warroad scored first in the first period on a goal by either Lisa or Leyla Marvin. Roso tied in the second after klilling off a 5-3 powerplay in the second. It than went into overtime. They announced that the game winner was scored by Eliza Evans but I think they changed it. I'm not sure who they gave too after that.

WARROAD CHEATERS

Post by puckster22 »

I just want to say that Warroad has nothing to be proud of. They bring in all of these girls from around the state, and from Canada. Of course they should win State. Roseau should be proud to have given them a run for their money. Warroad, if you need to cheat to win, why don't you go AA? Let these smaller schools have a chance. That what the single A schools are for. I have also heard grumblings about the Warroad girls playing extra games during the season. Do you really think you will get away with this for long? I don't! Izzy has ruined the Warroad youth program. None of these girls teams are good. Do they have winning records? What are you going to do when these girls move up? Bring in more out-of-towners? I doubt it. Unless there is a Marvin on the team. You should be ashamed of yourself. You are ruining your program. I really do feel bad for these towns who are missing their girls that THEY developed. He is USING someone elses hard work for his gain. Try building your OWN program from the ground up. You may have won your title this year, but judging by the numbers in your 14u down, your future doesn't look to bright.

I am so sick of people complaining about kids moving to Warroad to play. Everyone assumes that they are just recruited. Well the truth is they are not. They move there on their own free will. They like the kids they would be playing with, they like the coaches, they like the community. Some assume that the kids parents are given jobs at the big yellow factory as a reward but I have news for you Puckster, I work with amsley-benzeys parent at Dairy Queen, and her other parent is a pharmacist. All the best D's are home grown, and thats how games are won. These players feel more comfortable here and thats it. The fact is, Izzy is just a better coach than Bergstrom. And I heard that from several ROseau fans after the game, that is not just my opinion. Being in highschool, I heard som of the girls talking about how they knew what ROseau was gonna do. That means he had them better prepared for the game. People need to realize that just because they move here they are not recruited. Drop the issue and just play.

Puckster,
Actually they have plenty to be proud of, 3-0 against you this year!!!
Where is your Boys JV coach from? South Dakota, and he brought 4 kids to Roseau to play in your homegrown program while mom stays back. How will Olson's feel when homegrown is sitting and South Dakota is playing in the net next year. Quit putting yourself on a pedestal, Roseau has had plenty of kids come to town to play hockey.

Not RECRUITED!! not only does benzie work there, so does the other new recruits mom. how many of the dads work at the yellow factory? Sad that a senior captain rides the pine while the canadian and coaches 8th grader moves them on to state. As far as the DQ jobs, owner just happens to be coaches best friend and summer team coach!! Pull your head out from under a rock wish we would have moved OUT of town so my kid could play. drop the issue comes from the Warroad select side.

Me niether. The biggest problem i have with what they are saying is that they are letting their problems with the coach spill over to the players. Even if Warroad recruits like everyone says they do (and if they do I'm sure they are the only team that does so) that is the coaches business. Don't say that the players don't have anything to be proud of because they have worked extemely hard to accomplish what they have this season. No matter the circumstances they should not take that away from the girls

LOL, I had to come out of retirement for this thread! Where does Sylvester's dad work?? Who had that job before he did?

Also, I believe Izzy said it best in the GF Herald on (I think) the day of the game:
While Warroad coach David Marvin admits to being frustrated by those two losses, "last year doesn't make any difference now. We're such a different team. We have a lot of new players in our lineup."
