Who knows (or cares) if the current rankings are accurate or not, but currently 3 of the 5 top teams in state coming out of D8, with Woodbury not too far behind at #15. Will be quite the battle come District playoffs!!

Notice also that 13 of these 20 teams all need to go through the East regional ( D2, D6, D8 ).

so are we saying that Oreoslapper99 and New Ulm still have a chance to win the whole thing?

jancze5- you must have a child on SSM or see lots of their games. Curious what your thoughts are on the top teams in Minnesota. Since SSM isn't part of the equation yI trust your opinion is non biased.

Puckboy,

I can only comment on the teams we've played...

-Wayzata has the best 1st line in the state, #14 is IMO the best all around player on the ice
-Rochester has the best goalie in the state, can single handidly win a game, they also have a power play that is great and play good system hockey
-OMG #16 is as good as anyone, really stands out on the ice, good team speed, I don't understand how this team is so up and down
-Edina has a "good" all around team, I love the walsh kid, they play tough defensively, I think they just lack a superstar that can score anytime he's on the ice but they have skill to play with anyone
-White Bear Lake we've played 3 times and 2 we've completely destroyed them, they just lack team speed otherwise have good D, good goaltending. I can see why the lose to teams that can outskate them.
-Eden Praire we play tonight. Last game they were just outclassed, they are a young team that will no doubt make a long run next year. I would think tonight they will have improved drastically from a month ago.
-Duluth East was a big physical team but we outskated them, I don't think they handled our speed, but they are deep. Don't be surprised if they win it all, they just had a bad weekend down here, a puck bounces either way and they don't
-Centennial-when we played them they were missing 1 very very key player, so it's hard to say, they didn't have size that other teams have, if we played them again, would be a different game

I think those are the teams I've watched...I really think any of them can win on any given day...I can just simply add this, the difference between Minnesota Bantam hockey and the AAA teams we've played out of state is SPEED. Minnesota just lacks overall speed but make up for it with ice sense and overall game play.

Good luck everyone in districts and states

jancze5,

Very good summary of the teams. According to the District 6 website it only shows EP playing Edina and Rochester this weekend. Is Shattuck/EP on this weekend? What a weekend for EP if it is!!

Yes East Division will be tough. But D2 is a relatively weak district this year. Two teams in the top 20.

Opend the D2 site today and it looks like D2 has added league games with 3 St Paul teams and Irondale. These four added teams have a COMBINED record of 3-15-1 listed on the D2 standings. Padding the stats of traditional D2 teams ????

Marty,

WBL, Roseville, Tartan and Stillwater can beat any team in the state on any given night. WBL is playing very well and has improved every month this season. Roseville has excellent team speed, Stillwater in the past week beat Rogers and Lakeville South and is very well coached. Tartan tied Duluth East last week and plays very good defense.

Other districts may be a little stronger but come play playoffs D2 has a chance to be there.

Agreed. No question D2 will be a factor. D6 playoffs will be a fight too. Unfortunately for them this is their year to only get two teams into regions. That is tough.
