Jefferson beat them that makes them better.
Jefferson has not lost to anyone so there is no backdoor logic to saying EP is a bettert team.
Actually there is some logic to it. As it has been stated a million times on this board, Jefferson plays a significantly easier schedule than both Edina and Eden Prairie and other top teams in the state. They only have 1 win that's impressive to me which is the 2-1 win against EP where a few bad bounces every here and there and it could have easily been 2-1 EP winning.

Add to that the fact that they needed overtime to beat a very weak Lakeville South team that's 6-12, and they only beat a 5-14 Lakeville North team by 1 goal. Just because Jefferson beat EP that doesn't make them the better team, if we used that logic it would be impossible to do rankings because a lot of teams have victories against teams ranked above them. I think we should have all learned our lesson last year when Roseau got tossed at state that teams with weak schedules and are undefeated are not deserving of a #1 spot.

Man you sound like HScircletalker. That entire argument about only loosing by one goal is the worst argument in the book! Dude they lost, therefor they should be seeded lower! If the game were in sections, or state would it matter if they lost by one goal or ten....NO A loss is a loss, and until EP can prove that they can beat Jefferson, they should be ranked behind them.

Were you at the game? I thought Jefferson took it to EP pretty hard in this game. If Halloran hadn't played a heck of a game the score could have been worse. Shots were something like 43-16. Oh well, we will have to just wait and see what happens in their next meeting.

No, when you evaluate two teams that have played each other that is the determining criteria of who is better (when one of the teams has no losses).

If you are arguing that Edina or Centennial is better, that is a different matter. Since BJ has not played either of these two then considerations need to be taken into the calculation, such as strength of schedule, comparative games with common opponents, quality of players and other relevant factors.

But Jefferson is better than EP, we know that, we have the relevant fact.

finally someone makes a fair point. Perhaps EP is better, I think no way, but it can be argued. For now, Jefferson beat EP and there are no teams between the two to skew the rankings, therefore Jefferson is ahead of them FOR NOW. If EP beats Jefferson, then EP is ahead of them. Very simple. IMO, I was at the game, Jefferson is a much better team IMO, and the game was very lop-sided regardless of score. Come rematch time maybe EP will pull it off. BUT FOR NOW JEFFERSON IS AHEAD
