I am curious to hear any opinions about any of the Rau brothers from anybody that knows anything.

Very talented young skaters from EP. Definitely have a hard name to follow up because their older brother is one of the WCHA's leading points scorers.

very hard name to follow, at least now the "you need Rau" chant is gone when EP loses, because odds are the Rau brothers are what kept them in the game (and they are so talented, EP will win MANY games with those two on the roster).

The Rau brothers are quality players. EP is lucky to have been able to hold on to them along with Leddy.

Sophomores. Great group of about 9 sophomores playing at any one time for EP.

Rau's

Post by HSpuckguy »

The truth is...Kyle is small (but not afraid to hit or be hit), but is very talented, probably the most talented forward on the team. Contrary to Kyle, his brother Curt should probably be a swing (JV & Varsity) player, he can't make a pass, usually creating around 1/2 dozen icing calls again, and he gets his butt covered often by Leddy. Rau's biggest fault is that he rarely looks to his partner Leddy, who's the best "D" in the state hands down. Lee Smith should pull his head out of his butt and do what's best for the team, not best for the Rau's. Leddy is doing more coaching of Curt Rau than all the EP coaches combined...time to retire Lee!!!

They are excellent hockey players and add a lot to the EP team! Along with the young Molenaur, they're some of the strongest sophomores.

Rau Brothers

Easy HSpuckguy! We all know you're in LOVE with the Leddy kid from your previous posts. Leddy deserves a lot of props for developing his game but don't take it out on the Rau kid. It wasn't that long ago that Leddy was an undersized sophomore trying to prove his game at the Varsity level too. As for the JV/Varsity swing comment, let's not forget all the upperclassmen that played defense and have left the EP program:

Rush (SR) - USHL/NAHL
Hartman (SR) - Holy Angels
Duda (SR) - Benilde
Thompson (JR) - USHL
Mooney (JR) - Breck

That's how you get sophomore's developing their game on the fly. Rau, Molenaar, and Seeler, (who should be playing more), were half of the D core that went like 120-6 the last two years with back to back Bantam A State Championships. So relax and let the Rau kid develop. If Leddy wanted to play with D1 players he should have gone to the USHL or the US Nat'l Team. Instead he decided to stay his SR year and play on a team with 10-11 sophomore's. I think they are still top 5 ranked. As for Lee Smith, that's another topic!

One thing I see from Kyle is he knows how to score goals, which this Ep team really needs. He also gives assits, and is not a puck hog but will take shots when needed. He is very strong on that powerplay Ep has.

Ep also lost
Patterson - BSM
Clark- SSM
Duda (jr) - BSM

Rau is small in size, ONLY downside
Vision, Sense, Playmaking, Scoring, Physical, kids got it all
I say he is a future Gopher

Hopefully, Lucia doesn't let this Rau kid go somewhere else to haunt his program.
