A question for Lucia4President. So are you adding up these rankings as they are posted or will you do it all on Sunday? The reason I ask, is as the week goes on and games are played, my personal rankings have changed. If you are doing it at the end of the week, there should be no problem me editing my rankings. No big deal, I just don't wanna mess you up.

I have thought about this as the week has played out. I've been keeping a running tally, but if you choose to edit your rankings, I'll take that into account. The plan I had behind this was a college hockey type ranking system, where teams get points for 1st, 2nd, etc. If anyone has an idea in regards to how I could make this better, feel free to post it.DoubleDeuce wrote:A question for Lucia4President. I guess I figured that's how you were going to do it. That's how I would do it. But you realize there are only two weeks left of the regular season anyway. But it could make for a good trial run or test if you will for next year. I think it would be best to tally up at the end of the week. Looking at the way my rankings were tuesday, compared to what happened this week looks kinda silly.Lucia4President wrote:I have thought about this as the week has played out. In the last 2-weeks all of the top ten have had questionable losses. Edina has snapped out of their grinding funk, which I think was attributed more to the mental fatigue and the physical demands of their strength of schedule. The Hopkins game Thursday will be a great indicator of where the Hornets are truly at with their game. EP is playing very sound hockey this year and looked solid against BJ last night. Here is a sound check on some of the contenders.StillAnEagle wrote:Class AA

I've always hated Jefferson, but have to be fair.
Edina would be 3 and EP 4, but Edina is slumping.
1.EP-steady 2 losses to Edina, BJ only blemishes.
2.Edina 10 wins over current top 15, including 2 over EP. Is Mojo back?
3.Centennial, Win over Edina, good talent and depth.
4.Bloomington Jefferson-1-1 vs. EP, Lack of Schedule may hurt in long run.
5.Duluth East-Defense wins games.
6.Blaine-Big wins and big losses.
7.Benilde-finding a way to grind out a solid season.
8.Holy Angels-Physicality is a question mark come play-offs. Talent for sure.

Hornetsnest... or Hornet-centric...
Jefferson has one bad night after Edina blows 3 out of 4 and Edina is ahead of Jefferson...
You lose to Tonka 4-1 and Edina goes up the ranking and Tonka go off the Top 8... you're kidding right...
I think you may want to leave ranking business to Karl and others...

But since facts matter, breakdown for me these facts, and explain why in head to head comparisons Edina fared better in all but one head to head match-ups between BJ and Edina.
For section seeding, here are their similar opposition and results.
Edina 2-0 vs. EP 3-2 and 2-1. BJ - 1-1 vs. EP 2-1, 2-5
Edina 3-0 vs Wayz. 4-1,7-0,5-0 BJ - 1-0 vs. Wayz. 3-2
Edina 1-0 vs Moorhead. 3-0 BJ - 1-0 vs. Moorhead 4-3 OT
Edina 1-0 vs Grand Rap. 4-1 BJ - 1-0 vs. Grand Rap 7-0
Edina 1-0 vs Burns. 8-1 BJ - 2-0 vs. Burns. 4-2, 7-1
Edina has 10 wins against the latest Top 15 ranked schools.
Bloomington has 2 wins against this group. Edina has played only 3 teams this year that have not been ranked in the top 20. Cloquet, Buffalo and Armstrong. Could it be reasonable thinking, they might have more losses than Bloomington Jefferson?
Edina also has wins against formerly ranked Elk River, Moorhead, Grand Rapids & Burnsville.
My apologies for posting an opinion by the way. In the future I will try and stick to "justthefacts"

Hornetnest, you redeemed yourself with the Tonka mea culpa. I agree with you more than I disagree with you regarding BJ and Edina however I think BJ needs another loss or two to fully make the case to the guys that rank the the teams. In the meantime you and I both probably agree that Edina (on a good day) is probably a better team than BJ. On another thread I made the case after watching the BJ - Eden Prairie game that BJ may not even belong in the top 5 but we may never know due to schedule. If Edina loses a few more games they may not be either... If they don't then they are a clearly a top 5 team.

Couldn't agree more with your quote about class A - time to step up and play with the big boys. Or are you afraid of the risk of not having your team ranked in a top 10 list (because some notoriety is better than none!).toothpick25 wrote:No one cares about class A hockey.

Top 5 - any one of these teams could beat eachother on any given day. I'd normally say Edina emerges, but they've shown they can loose too. I've seen Jefferson play 2x and have been disappointed both times.
