Feb 13-14 Alaska Anchorage @ Minnesota

Post by Lucia4President »

The Golden Gophers (12-9-5 overall, 9-8-3 WCHA, t-6th) play host to the Seawolves of Alaska Anchorage (10-12-4 overall, 7-11-4 WCHA, 9th) this weekend at Mariucci Arena. The Gophers have been swept the last two weekends, with the most recent losses coming against Wisconsin. Anchorage split at home last weekend against SCSU.

Predictions and thoughts?

It's amazing how brutal Minnesota has been since their trip to North Dakota. They should be able to sweep Anchorage right? Right?

The Gophers played better this last weekend against Wisconsin, but they couldn't pull out a win. Anchorage comes into the weekend having split the last four weekends. Minnesota needs four points this weekend to keep their home ice advantage hopes alive.

Who would have thought the Gophs would need this series as desperately as they do, I think they will get back on track with a sweep this weekend and a confidence booster to close out the season

Gophers have to score some goals. They get more than plenty of quality chances.
The coaching is fine.
Put the puck in the net.

It's not the Coach, it is the players need to be more hungry to put the puck in the net. Frustrating yes, but no time for them to point fingers. from here on out they need to play like every game will be there last. Otherwise it will be a VERY short Post Season.

Blake Christianson looked pretty good this weekend for UAA. They should be pretty good in the next few years.
