FHIT

Post by Nobodyonya »

Need some feedback from individuals or parents that have had there child participate in this off season program. I know what the expense is, but am inquiring if the program lives up to what is preeched. Grant it, it all depends on what the player puts into it what they will get out. Do they individualize and help teach the player on what they are doing right and wrong by pulling the player aside or do they instruct on what drill to perform and just watch them do it and go on to another drill as a group? Is this program best for Squirt, Peewee, Bantam or High School age?

FHIT is now run by Showcase Hockey. Not sure if that is good or bad.......
Is it still run out of St. Thomas' rink/fitness facilities? I'm not sure if it is worth the money........The kids get out of it what they put in. I haven't seen kids who participated in Fhit where improvement has been noticeable come the winter season, especially later in the season after everyone has been skating a lot....just my 2 cents.......

Save your money

Save your money. FHIT is a damn joke. The coaches are jokers too. Lots of flash and no substance. Blah blah blah

I thought the same. FHIT is generally recognized as the best training facilities and staff in the metro. The skaters I know that have spent time there are among the absolute best players I know. It's expensive and you need to get your player there 40-50 times to make it worthwhile. The kids need to buy in and get the work done on and off the ice but if their goal is to improve themselves every day they'll succeed. Probably more for the more mature players as Squirts don't necessarily benefit from all of the strength and conditioning.

I heard that when Showcase bought FHIT - Brian Dewees was fired. He was their skating instructor - who apparently was very good.

Has Showcase made other changes - especially to the staff? This, like any other program, is only as good as the coaches. Facilities don't make a good program, the experience, knowledge and commitment of coaches make great programs. Before paying the dollars for the program, which are considerable, I would recommend asking the questions regarding who are the coaches, and what changes have been made since Showcase took over.

DeWees is at H.D.C. in Lakeville. He is a very good skating instructor, contact him at HDC to learn about his advanced training program.
Was a duster and paying for it?????

FHIT not fit

Post by Random_Sample »

Repost:

FHIT hockey at the HBTC used to be a really good program.
Seems like since they have lost many key members of their staff in the last two years, it has really gone downhill.
Anyone know what is going on with this place?
They can no longer offer the EVO program, since they have no one on staff that can teach that anymore. EVO is a really good work out program that is not the same as dry-land training.
This program is pricey, and seems to not be worth it anymore.
The ice times are overbooked, and nearly impossible to get at times.
Some of the newer staff is unwilling to work with customers to resolve conflicts, not good for the future of this program.
Has this turned into a cash cow?
Does anyone have any high level alternatives to the FHIT program?

Your talking about the program at the super rink, hows the program at St. Thomas? How do they compare to each other? The super rink has a program called MAP, is this the same as FHIT? If not, how is that program?

Same program. "North" and "South" campus. Can't speak to comparative quality, but FHIT's MAP program seems to be the biggest and best-known summer development for high school and older. They're trying to edge into younger players, but not sure they can really compete with AAA.

Not sure about history of this program, but it also looks like they're trying to expand into other sports like soccer and even basketball. Evolving from a specialized program for hockey into a generalized one for other sports seems risky.

Mind, this all from a casual observer. Not experienced, not an expert.

My kid skates at FHIT. He loves it. He can skate and workout everyday. its similar to a club membership for hockey players. He is in the "upper level" groups and skated against some guy named Zach Parise last week during game day. I think you might want to pump the brakes a bit on this one!
