I definitely think Red Wing will keep it close, but this is what they have struggled with all year. They have been able to beat the teams they should beat, but other than New Prague they have not beaten a top end class A team. Red Wing has been hot lately, but I gotta give the nod to the Hawks. 5-2

Hermantown is too good this year. I will say that if Red Wing can keep it close we could have an upset on our hands. I do have to take the hawks though

Red Wing played basically a whole period of the game on the powerplay. I'm guessing that had something to do with the 4-1 final score.

It was 2-1 after the second period; with Red Wing scoring on 2 power plays; but the 2 goals in the third were both at full strength. Sounds to me like Red Wing just capitalized on a few early power plays and then just outplayed them late. Red Wing had it's fair share of penalites too, just not quite as much as Hermantown. 18min to 10min total.

Considering how well Red Wing played against AHA I wasn't surprised to see them beat Hermantown.

Well, they did not play a whole period on the powerplay, they just simply capitalized on the powerplays that they were given. Red Wing just out played Hermantown plain and simple. Red Wing is pretty hot right now, we'll see if they can carry that into the playoffs.

Red Wing had 8 powerplays for 16 minutes... pretty close to a whole period.

Hermantown had two until the final 26 seconds of the game when they got their 3rd. A penalty was also called after time expired on Red Wing, so that 5 penalties for 10 minutes is misleading - in reality it was 4 for 6:36, and 2:00 of that came coincidentally with a Hermantown penalty. Hermantown spent 4:26 on the powerplay in the entire game.

Let me add... I wasn't at this game, so maybe the lopsided penalties were justified, I don't know. I was just pointing out that Hermantown was shorthanded for 1/3 of the game. Hard for any team to win like that, especially when they don't their own chances.

Red Wing has great team speed; especially on their first line, I would guess that had something to do with some of the penalties; and they love to rush the puck up the ice with those speedsters which leads to hooking and interference penalties.

I wasn't at the game either but just looking at the book scores lead me to believe that Hermantown was frustrated with their style of play and took some bad penalties. Who knows, great win for RW either way, they are definetly a team that could surprise some people come tournament time.
