I'm going to stop fighting the schedule strength with you. I'll let the KRACH do the talking. I don't think 35 is cupcake after looking at them all, but that's my opinion. PHM had a 27, to your standards would that be equivalent to a cupcake without the frosting?
I'm assuming your a PHM fan so if you're busy at all your games how could you possibly see enough of each goalie on Duluth's team. My guess is that you seen them each once, that being in both games we played you.

I watch a lot of hockey. Wrong, I'm not a PHM fan so I saw plenty of Duluth's games. I will admit I caught exactly zero of the East boys' JV games last year though.theNUTcup wrote:I'm going to stop fighting the schedule strength with you. I'll let the KRACH do the talking. Fact of the matter is the team that won, PHM played better in this game. Duluth came up short. Laura Bellamy, a senior captain I believe should have been in the game. PHM has never defeated Duluth with Bellamy in goal. Turner is a very good goalie and will have many moments in the next two years to shine, but this should have been Bellamy's game to win or lose. SOS, KRACH, LPH, will not win or lose you a game. That is up to the teams playing.
I agree that PHM played better in the game and obviously Duluth came up short. But hockey is a team game and you can't play someone just because they are a senior, a captain, or have endless amounts of awards. You have to put the best team on the ice because you owe it to everyone in the locker room who busts their butt all season to give you the best chance to win.nmnhockeydad wrote:Fact of the matter is the team that won, PHM played better in this game. It is too bad she was sitting on the bench for her last game because she was the goalie for that team for the last half decade. But until this year she never had someone pushing her and I'm sure that got to her a little bit. It'll be interesting to see how college goes for her when there will be 3 other goalies pushing her all year and when your number is called you have to perferm to prove yourself.
And from what I've seen this year whenever Turner's number was called, she proved herself. Looking at the box scores I see that two of the games she really proved herself in were the wins over Hopkins 2 to 1 and Warroad 1 to 0, arguably 2 of the best teams in the state.
I wish Bellamy the best of luck next year and maybe it was a good thing to have someone push her this year. Although it probably wasn't the most positive experience, it should help her in the long run during those 4 years at Harvard.

I don't think anyone on this board has suggested that Bellamy should have been between the pipes based on the fact that she was a senior alone. You make it seem as though somebody claimed it should have been her game by default. As far as her being a Division I recruit, a team captain and having a laundry list of awards goes: do you honestly think that happened by accident? I don't know of too many coaches who would have felt apprehensive about having a six-time all-conference selection in the net for such a big game. Laura spent six years proving she is an elite goalie, and won more than enough big games to warrant finishing her career on the ice. She earned the chance to take her team to state. That opportunity was stolen from her in favor of a sophomore who previously thought girls' hockey was below her level. Let's not forget that Turner only waltzed onto the scene because Mike Randolph told her that females play girls' hockey, not boys' JV.theNUTcup wrote:I agree that PHM played better in the game and obviously Duluth came up short. I'm insulted that you mentioned putting the best team on the ice and owing it to the girls who bust their butts all year long. What do you think Bellamy did this year and every year before? Everyone will tell you she works harder than anyone. Why isn't she owed the opportunity to finish her career on a high note? Then you say she's never had anyone pushing her? I'll correct you, she has never had anyone else push her during a high school season. It's probably not fair to assume other top goalies weren't pushing her at national camp the last two years. Not to mention, she has never needed to be pushed and has always pushed herself. The results speak for themselves.
Then you point out Turner's solid performances this year. I will admit Paige played well in several games. Funny you chose leave out the strong efforts Bellamy turned in, well, at least you meant to. I'd like you to do some fact-checking and come back to me when you find that it was Bellamy who downed then-No.1 Hopkins 2-1. As far as Warroad goes, Paige shut them out, which is obviously no small feat. Problem is, it's nothing Bellamy didn't do last year, not to mention AA teams should beat their class A counterparts. Most importantly, though, did you forget who was in net the first time PHM outplayed Duluth? By the way, who won that game?
At this point it is so clear that you have no idea what you are talking about, and I feel sorry for myself that I validated what you wrote by taking time out of my day to respond to it.

Ms. Bellamy is a class act and her contributions to that program are too many to mention. i'm sure she is ready to move on. She is what everyone should aspire to.
Maybe the other goalie plyed because there was concerned she would move to PHM. Once the Downeys move back to Silver Bay, lodging will be available.
Then they could have been Proctor Hermantown Marshall Silver Bay Duluth and Superior.

You're right, Bellamy played the Hopkins game. I got that game mixed up with the Irondale game, my bad and thanks for the correction. I haven't bashed on Bellamy at all though. I have said she has let in softies all year, but also know that I said she's a great goalie, I just think Turner's better.
I don't know everything, obviously because I mixed up that game, but besides that I don't know what goes on at practice or off the ice with the team. Maybe Turner does plays consistently great day in and day out, maybe not. But if she has, we don't know it because we're not there. And maybe that's why she got her number called for the semis. All I see and you see is what happens at game time. I have heard Bellamy is a hard worker and I have heard Turner is a hard worker. Their both hard working players who both deserve a lot of credit. They both put up awesome numbers and both won big games this season. And from what I've seen in the games, Turner was fundamentally sound and consistent, just what you want from a goalie. Not saying Bellamy was bad by any means, Turner just had an edge on her. That's my opinion.
Again thank you for the correction. You're right, she has been pushed at her summer camps with other top goalies. Vice Versa, Bellamy has never been pushed during her High School season other than by herself. But do you think there is as much pressure during a summer league or camp to perform your best? Or at your high school where you have been in the spotlight for a half a decade with all your family and friends knowing you're the best? And then you come into your senior season with a sophomore putting you on your heels to play your best every time you are out there? I mean really think about it.
"At this point it is so clear that you have no idea what you are talking about, and I feel sorry for myself that I validated what you wrote by taking time out of my day to respond to it."
I would disagree with that statement. Clearly I have somewhat of an idea what I'm talking about. And don't feel sorry for yourself, it probably only took you a few minutes to read and respond. Talking hockey is better than doing a lot of other things.
But in reality of it all neither of us have an idea because we're not at every game or practice or off ice event. If we don't catch a game we look at stats, if we catch a game it could be there only good game all year or there only bad game all year. If we see or hear their name in the media it's like wow. Bottom line, we don't know who worked harder or plays better day in and day out including practices unless your a player or a coach.
I would like to apologize if it seemed as if I was bashing Bellamy, because I wasn't. All I wanted to say from the start was I thought Turner was the better goalie and I thought it was the right call.
