Edina Tournament top notch!

**I have to admit I was born in Edina, but no longer live in Edina

We just finished a weekend tourny in Edina (we are a squirt B-1 team) and tourny was outstanding. Braemar is a top facility. Everything about tournament was grea. What we loved most was the announcers for Sundays games. Totally hilarious. Accoustics (for announcing & music) were great, music was perfect ("Bad Boys" etc...) for penalties was awesome. Thanks Edina for 1st class tournament! And again, I do not live in Edina, just had a kid on a team from different city.

Looks like that Wayzata Blue team steamrolled the competition. Weird how the A team is just above average and the B1 teams are doing great. They almost look like Edina's B teams from last year.

Another story for another day. (AKA- Wayzata could have/should have easily fielded 2 A teams). I'm off topic, congrats to Edina for being a top notch organization/host.

You always whine whenever you lose to a Wayzata, Edina, WBL, Osseo/MG, Centennial, EP, etc.

Toomuchtoosoon and Snowmass-Off topic a bit but had to respond.

Wayzata has always had B1 teams that do very well. If Wayzata has one "just above average" A team, not sure how could they field two competitive A teams. Look at Edina. Similar in size and have two A teams. One is a winning team and one is not. (Yes, they are unbalanced but you could argue if you balanced them together they would be mediocre). Woodbury has done a nice job with two A teams. Better talent pool or better coaching???

Also it appears that Edina, by having two A teams, has diluted their talent pool and now no longer have any dominant B1 teams. Which certainly works in favor of the Wayzata B1 teams this year - less competition at the tourneys.

Agree Braemar does great job hosting tourneys!

Xcel-You assume that the talent level in Edina is the same this year over last. Edina was much deeper at the squirt level and should have had a couple of A teams last year. This year it is not nearly as deep. You need to look at it year by year if you make the decision to go with 2 A's. Some years will be fine and others will not.

I know someone who has observed the Wayzata process this year and was amazed by who they took and who got cut (in general-went with smurfs who play pond hockey rather than players with size that play the game right). Maybe this shows that there were mistakes made and some top players who should have been on the A team are just dominating at the B level.

I thought pond hockey WAS the right way. Isn't that what everyone says is missing today ... kids just going out and playing for fun like they used to when they played pond hockey. Sounds like they need a system to control their fun. Or maybe they should have lined them up by height and weight and picked the A and B teams that way
