I may wonder if Virginia is peaking to soon. You always see that teams that win out against some poor team's normally falter in the end like Falls versus Hibbing last year. Even if Hibbing loses its not like they haven't been 2 or 3 seed before. They just need to focus on playing there best hockey come playoff time. A loss to Hibbing could send Virginia into a tailspin. 2 weeks ago people would've said Hibbing no problem but i think there recent struggles are making people think otherwise. Hibbing just has to finish the year strong and get hot right before playoffs.

The game tonight against Eveleth is key. They need to play hard the entire game and not let up. They can't stoop down to the golden bears level of play, Hibbing needs to be fast paced and moving the puck. And hopefully to get the scoring confidence back up again they need somewhere around 8-10 goals tonight against Eveleth.

As if this rivalry needed any fuel added to the fire... but, it looks as if everything (regular season wise) will hinge on this game.
Winner should get the #1 seed in 7A. The Iron Range Conference title will be decided by this game as well. A Virginia win or tie gives the Blue Devils the title. A Hibbing win creates a three-way tie between Hibbing, Virginia, and Grand Rapids.

Yea but Hibbing needed to play a really good game even if it was Eveleth. Both games last week they played well so hopefully they can bring some sort of momentum to this game. Virginia is no Eveleth I realize that and it will be a very close game but Hibbing needed to come out flying and get there scoring confidence back up. And that they did. I'm sticking with my pick of Hibbing.mainefan wrote:As much as it is painful to see or admit gophers 101, Hibbing, just as they did, should have put up those numbers against Eveleth. Against Virginia it will be a different story.

Sad game for the Hibbing fans to watch.
Virginia sent them home and handed their butts to them on the way out. Nice jam packed arena though, it's good to see everyone support their teams. I hope Hibbing can fix what's wrong and get back in this game cause the seasons not over yet. I still have faith that they can bring home the section trophy.

Looks like it's time for Hibbing to pay a price for this loss.
At #14 on “follow the puck”? well they should drop out after the last few weeks with only Eveleth and Greenway wins? Not that Grand Rapids wins help set the world on fire.
Kind of makes you wonder about Marshall’s 13- 9 -1 record now too? There at #15 ranking?

Lustig was outstanding and kept Virginia in the game for awhile. I wouldn't say Hibbing was sluggish till the 3rd period when it was 3-1. Then one bad goal here and another there and Virginia had them on the ropes. Again Lustig was the best player on the ice and he showed why he's one of the best in the north. Hibbing's defense was sleep walking in the third and Tromp definately wasn't on his game. I have a feeling we'll se a rematch at the DECC.

Rematch? Possible. Hibbing looks to be struggling of late, Devils are deep and playing hot right now. Devils Jackets final would be AWESOME!!! Hibbing don't over look the Falls, these two schools have a lot of history,no love for each other.Semi finals will be nothing short of fantastic!Falls fans bring the fish, see ya at the IRA civic center.gophers101 wrote:Lustig was outstanding and kept Virginia in the game for awhile. I can't remember the last time Hibbing was put into running time. But the Falls will definately be tough as they want revenge from last year. Right now Virginia is the team to beat and when Lustig plays like that no one will beat them.alumni wrote:Best I have seen Virginia all year. Cant remember the last time virginia pounded hibbing that bad. virginia defintely deserved that one. if they keep playing like that and lustig plays like that night in and night out, we'll see them at the X. Go Blue!
