First, the momentum getting ahead or momentum killer of behind right away is a big thing. It's unfortunately MG didn't bring it to Blaine in the 1st period the way they did in the 3rd.
Second, no doubt MG broke the number one goal in their game plan by not staying out of the box. With Blaine's PP, they'll make you pay. I will also give you that MG's penalties were generally legit. HOWEVER, it was pretty embarrassing what was not called on Blaine. One of their guys is 3 feet off side and they end up scoring on the rush. It was so obvious the MG goalie let up thinking they had to call it. I know, not the right thing to do. Many, many other times there was way too much clutching and grabbing (tackling) by Blaine, NONE of which was called. These things all affect momentum.
Bottom-line, Blaine was the much better team tonight. But if MG comes out against them in Sections with the energy and confidence they did for much of the third period AND do a better job staying out of the box, IMHO I think Blaine could be in for a surprise.
