Okay, I give up. I don't know what 'M.I.B.' is other than:

1) (Virginia) Mountain Iron/Buhl, or
2) Men In Black

Which school does Hoeffencamp play for? He's not on the Virginia MI/B roster.

Right. I get it. M.I.B. = Men Imbibing Beer

Good luck on the rest of your season!

hey thanks, we got your usual group... a few that can't wait to get out of the house, a few that bring their pops too the locker room, and a few that think it is game 7.. anyhow, one of them has a freshmen playing but not on your top list. Thank goodness next weeks party is at the sponsors house.

Just to finish the thought, here is the final list of freshmen regular season scoring for 2008-2009. I pulled out the 'games played' stat since most of these will have played 25 regular season games. Some teams, however, did not report all 25 (e.g., Duluth Denfeld showed only 16 total games in their summary). Oh well. It is rough measure.

32 points
Austyn Young – South St. Paul 11-21 (#3)
28 points
Garret Schmitz – Red Lake Falls 12-16 (#2t)
26 points

Dylan Zutz – Red Lake Falls 11-11
21 points
Tanner Jordan – Mahtomedi 12-9
20 points
Kyle Krueger – Prior Lake 8-12 (#2)

Mick Dhein – Richfield 14-5
A.J. Michaelson - Apple Valley 9-10 (#2)

Jared Kolquist – Hermantown 5-12
Brandon Parker – Faribault 1-16
16 points
Matt Pohlkamp – Brainerd 11-5 (#3)
Braden Devescovi – Bemidji 7-9
Zach Hartley (8th) – Minnehaha Acad. 4-12 (#3)
15 points

With the state's top three freshmen scorers already out of the state playoffs, I am looking at some outstanding performances from:

Nate Arentz, 2 goals in Lakeville North's 5-2 win over Lakeville South in the 1AA semi-finals,

and

A.J. Michaelson, game-winning goal for Apple Valley in their 2-0 win over Woodbury in the 3AA semi-finals.

and

Jay Dickman of St. Paul Johnson, with a goal in their 4-3 win over Tartan in 4AA semi-finals.

Good luck to these three frosh in their section finals!

A couple of very good frosh defensemen in these finals also..Skjei for LN and Derek Smith for AV. I know we focus on points for discussion which is fine...and I see mainly Lake conference games but I have a hard time belieiving there is a better all around 9th grade player than Michaelson at AV. Alot of good young players though and it's been fun watching all of them progress. Thanks for keeping us updated also!

Yeah, I kind of dropped the ball (dropped the puck?) on the goalies. Franke is certainly the starter for Elk River.

Another frosh goalie left in the playoffs is Bitzer of Moorhead, who is their #2 (but with a very good record, 7-0-0 in regular season). Sawyer Marshall of Mahtomedi is also left, but he is #2 also.

So Peterson had 14 points in Denfeld's final 9 games? Wow. Or else you are using a different database from the one I used (http://www.mnhockeyhub.com), which still only shows 16 total games.

Whatever; 27 points is a good season for any freshman.

Derek Smith, Apple Valley

2 goals, 7 assists for 9 points in 28 games. Controls the game very well, always looks smooth and calm on the ice. Worked on the PP and PK all year controlling it at the point. Will be one to watch.
