The sooner you realize that the past three years success has been due to girls coming in from other cities, the sooner you will realize that Eden Prairie will never, EVER be the same. Let's see the real Tim Morris!
My oh my, that's an awfully big monkey on your back. Do you have a nickname for him? Looking at your post history you seem to pretty equally hate the girls AND boys program at EP. What happened? Do you need to talk about it? We're here to help...

EAGLE NATION!
Rather than being some overly involved parent, as I'm guessing you are, I actual attend the high school. I know what's going on. It gets old seeing the boy's coach, Lee Smith not have a clue on what he's doing with the varsity team and then watching mister Bud Grant's son, Mike, not do squat because anything that might be bigger than his precious little football team would be horrendous.

Do you follow any Eden Prairie Youth hockey? It seems like year after year at least three or four teams ranging from PeeWees to Junior Gold make a serious run at a state championship, if not win it! Why hasn't that translated to success at the high school level? Tell me that sir and I will be quiet.... Or better yet, tell me why all our talent continually leaves our program??? Let me list off the players that could have been playing here instead of Juniors, develpoment programs, or leaving for a private school.
List:
Seniors- Danny Kristo (Ann Arbor), Alec Rush (Juniors), Andrew Hartmen (Holy Angels, varsity), Patrick Duda (Benilde?, varsity)
Juniors- Jason Clark (Shattuck), Blake Thompson (Juniors), Jacob Meyers (Benilde), Brett Patterson (Benilde)

Not only that, please explain this- this season Smith cut a player that had played a little varsity as a sophomore and then all of last year as a junior, and he cut probably the second most explosive senior player, Joe Mulvehill (spelling may be off), second only to Nick Leddy. Muvehill aslo played varsity as a sophomore. You total that up and that is TEN players that could have DEARLY helped the varsity team this season. What's up with that?

Now, regarding the girls team. Just say your graces that little Kelsey is actually playing. Would you be happier if your daddy's girl wasn't playing because three bloomington kids and two Chaska kids took her spot? No. Now that recruiting is a thing of the past, only Eden Prairie residents' children will be playing, including yours, not nearby suburbs. It's hard to like Tim Morris when you actually know a person who has had a varsity spot taken away by some recruit. It hurts that person. Like I said, say your graces that little Kelsey is playing even if the team won't be as good. It would hurt a lot more than if your daughter was the one sitting at home watching the team she should be playing on have success.

Last thing: take a look at the Let'sPlayHockey rankings, although they generally mean nothing, they do give a rough estimate of how teams fall, and tell me where is Eden Prairie? Not ranked. Oh, too bad. And they lost what, 8-2 to Eagan who is 15??? Ouch!

Now that I completely undressed you, please just pull up your pants and say nothing.[/url]

Are you sure your not Sean Averey's twin? Do you have to use so many people's names! You are a country IDIOT!!!!!

Country,

Please describe how the recruiting occurred. You are entitled to your thoughts and opinions, but when you make bold statements it would be nice to see them backed up.

My kid was the first of the bloomington kids to transfer. Immediately after her 9th grade season at KHS, I contacted the admin at EP to begin the paperwork for open enrollment. Prior to the paperwork being submitted and approved we had no contact with Morris.

I don't give a rat's ass about how you feel about open enrollment, and after all these years I wonder why I let someone like you get under my skin, but I do know for sure you are making baseless remarks. If you want to have any credibility, stick to facts and to things you actually know about.

Lots of talented 8th graders in a game played by 2 schools big enough that they probably shouldn't need them... They are all fun to watch though. Could be a "make or break" game for the Eagles season.

Shako is coming off a big 8-2 win over Hutch who was ranked #10 in A, I think they were overrated BUT they did beat Holy Angels 3-1. It should be a great game.

Might have a better idea after tonight's Bloomington Jefferson game. Keep you posted. Not a stellar start to the season - but seeing flashes and glimmers of potential! EP beat Shako in the pre-season scrimmage fest but we'll see.

Shako was also with out their leading scorer/ best player. It will be a good game no doubt but I look for Shako to come out in a close one.

EP 7-1 over Jaguars. My pick is EP over Shako (not Lake Conf game so unrelated to this thread - but since NSG asked...)

I can't speak for EP, but Shakopee is probably the smallest of the big schools AA and they do not have the numbers like a lot of other programs have. To the best of my knowledge Shakopee has never cut a girl from the HS program, and the 8th graders are a valuable part of the program for us.

EP believe it or not is in much the same situation this year. You would think with the enrollment we have there would be many more players. I personally like the 8th graders on the teams. They are typically very hard workers. The Shako girls are definitely no exception to this and have proven their right to be on the team. EP's U12 and U10 groups are quite a bit deeper which is very exciting for EP girls hockey for the future.

See you Saturday!

Interesting that QRF has Eagan 5, Eastview 12 with LN 21 and LS a few points away from being top 20. I like QRF better than the other formula because it includes more data.

Good luck to all the Lake teams during the non-conference tourneys. Good start: Chaska almost tips Minnetonka and Eagan beats BSM.

QRF Explained:

KRACH is similar but eliminates the class bias and doesn't look at score differential as teams score control differently.

QRF has more data points (team score totals for every team for every game) which is better when you are only have about 12 games with limited cross-over to put into the computer. Won't matter, KRACH will get very close to QRF when it is over.

My understanding is QRF ( http://www.minnesota-scores.net/qrf.php ) tosses non-mn scores like KRACH and that they both draw from the same data set game score wise (www.minnesota-scores.net). So - same data set I think, just different algorithms? Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this. Note that QRF reports records with non-MN games counted in whereas KRACH reflects only games against MN teams. So, some teams show fewer W/L/T with KRACH vs QRF.

I've also noticed that QRF has some teams in different class than reflected on MSHSL site but not sure how much this impacts things as QRF does take class into consideration.

KRACH was derived to rank a huge group of competitors that have limited crossover. I'm not certain of the origin or intent of QRF but I know its said to work for NFL. Is there more crossover in NFL vs MSHSL G Hockey? I haven't looked into that. Not sure it matters as the two provide a good look at what non-biased game result based rankings look like without a human element beyond the creation of the algorithm... which can be biased too... =)

Bottom line - as pointed out in the Austin tourney thread - and as mentioned here, in the end it comes down to how much data you have to analyze (and if it's garbage or not) and in the end-of-season you have the most data but there's little to predict once all the games are played =) Is fun to see where everyone is "ranked" in the end however...

I was afraid of this. It's been too quiet on the Lake thread even from the EP guys. Where are you guys going to finish? Are the Irish going to overtake the wounded Eagles and send them into an 8th place finish?

I just want you guys to know that after the past few years no one in the conference is happy about EP losing so many conference games.

We may have been wounded - but we may be well healed by Feb! This group of girls have worked really hard and have come a long way. Nothing against the Irish - but really now....

SuperStar, that was me in the "bold predictions" and both of my predictions did not happen, but that is why they are called "bold" since they are like betting on a flyer. Congrats on a season that has already gone better than I thought it would for your girls.

I didn't, but I would say EP gets about 10 conference wins. Maybe one more, maybe one less.

What were you right about? EP in no way "down right sucked." You also weren't right about me being a "SIR" in your earlier post - so you essentially are saying you "undressed" one of your classmates MOMS! How embarassing for you.

And by the way - Lee Smith's selections seem to be working out pretty well for him - but that is another forum.

What did you get out of school early today cuz of the snow. You've got serious issues - go do your homework.

Now what was it that you got right???
