Here's a toast to all the teams and fans who make a Section Final this year. I believe their is no game more pressured filled for the players and more fun for the fans. The atmosphere is incredible. Last year at Mariucci we had two fantastic games with Minnetonka-BSM followed by Edina-Burnsville. Here is a clip from the Edina-Burnsville game. If anyone has clips or footage from other classic HS games please post.

I know from a parent's perspective (on another sport not hockey, which I will not mention here) that I was always more nervous about the section final game to get to State. Second most nervous was winning the first round State game, which guaranteed two more games and TV time (no consolation bracket in this unnamed sport). The Championship games were stressful, but to get to play on the last day of the season for the big prize was special regardless of the outcome. Although I will say it was more fun to win the championships!

No doubt the section final. Every players dream is to play in the state tournament. What do you have to do to get in the state tournament? Win your section. There is nothing more pressure filled. Anything can happen!
How many times have we seen two teams who meet twice in the regular season meet again in the section final? Most of the time one of those teams has won both of those regular season games. Sure enough the team who didn't win a game against the other during the season ends up beating the team in the section final.
The section final just has so much more at stake. Would you rather lose in the section final and not make the tourney or go to the tourney and lose the championship game and take home 2nd place? Weigh your options. I'd have to say I'd like to be in the tourney and have at least one game on T.V. Going to the tourney is basically a once in a lifetime chance and for some who are lucky they have two and very few have three. So there is so much more pressure playing in the section final knowing it could be the only opportunity you have to make the tourney in your entire life.
