Horn or Horton...he's a frosh too isn't he?puck81 wrote:Scoreboard33 The best better bring their "A" game on Saturday or Benilde is going to send them home for the second year in a row. The best Freshmen on the ice tonight wasn't playing for Hopkins, he was wearing red and white.

Maybe tonight, but the best freshman in the state this year wasn't wearing red.puck81 wrote:Scoreboard33 The best better bring their "A" game on Saturday or Benilde is going to send them home for the second year in a row. Benilde may want to think about bringing their "A" game as well. They are not playing a bunch of chumps on Saturday.puck81 wrote:Scoreboard33 The best better bring their "A" game on Saturday or Benilde is going to send them home for the second year in a row. "Tonight" was the night that counts. I would be referring to Mr. Horn as the best freshmen on the ice tonight. Horton played a solid game also, scoring the third goal of the game. The Hopkins frosh was scoreless. He better get to BIG early on Saturday or he might not find a seat for the BSM-EP game.starmvp wrote:Maybe tonight, but the best freshman in the state this year wasn't wearing red.puck81 wrote:Scoreboard33 The best better bring their "A" game on Saturday or Benilde is going to send them home for the second year in a row. Benilde won't be thinking about bringing their "A" game against EP on Saturday, they will bring their "A" game. Perhaps EP won't be talking smack before and during the game like Hopkins did and will garnish more respect.gerryodrowski wrote:Benilde may want to think about bringing their "A" game as well. I'm sure EP is concerned about more important things than "garnishing" (think you mean garnering) respect from Benilde. The biggest smack talker in HS hockey is an EP kid that will be wearing Red on Saturday.puck81 wrote:Benilde won't be thinking about bringing their "A" game against EP on Saturday, they will bring their "A" game. Except for the fact that Benilde was the better overall team in this game, I can't see how one could conclude Horn was better than Boyd last night. Except for the nice crash of the net and a nice feed from a teammate for the first goal in the first five minutes, I didn't notice Horn as standing out much at all for the rest of the game. By contrast, Boyd was the primary playmaker for Hopkins throughout the game. While Meyers played well and Boyd didn't get one by him, it wasn't for lack of effort or skill, particularly when he was being marked so closely whenever he was in the offensive zone by a forward doing everything he could short of undressing him to not let him get loose.
Horn has the benefit of playing on a team where he isn't relied on to create as much as Hopkins relies on Boyd. Both are outstanding players with a lot of good things ahead of them.
I thought the difference was Benilde's strength and discipline in both ends, and Hopkins had 3-4 defensive breakdowns that led to the last three goals. I thought Benilde's defense was a little vulnerable to speed, and EP may have enough of it to take advantage. Should be another good one.

Boyd is a good player no doubt but your making excuses for him. He didn't get the job done last night. Was Boyd the better player this year? Sure he was. Last night? I go with Horn.Westsidefan wrote:Except for the fact that Benilde was the better overall team in this game, I can't see how one could conclude Horn was better than Boyd last night. First of all, thanks for correcting my grammer. Never stated that EP was concerned about garnering respect from BSM. Just stated that they better bring their "A" game Saturday as earlier posts claimed that BSM or Hopkins can't skate with the "best" which is a crock. As far as #22 I know that he has talked some smack this year and I also know that he has been benched more then once for doing it. I also know that Hopkins was talking smack last night and they couldn't back it up. All the pressure is on EP come Saturday since they are the #1 seed and have been ranked high all year.gerryodrowski wrote:I'm sure EP is concerned about more important things than "garnishing" (think you mean garnering) respect from Benilde. I'd say that the pressure will be on any team that plans to win.puck81 wrote:First of all, thanks for correcting my grammer. Never stated that EP was concerned about garnering respect from BSM.
