All im hoping for is some good section play. Red wing takes this section to state after beating lourdes in overtime anyway.
You must not have gone to NP vs East game. New Prague was running mainly 2nd 3rd and 4th lines in the third. Only time Lapics and Adams were out there was when Mankato was getting pressure on the NP's goalie, it was his first varsity start cuz it was seniors night and they wanted to preserve a shut out for him...not to pad their stats

ok well im still picking a upset because i think it makes things more interesting, especialy since it doestn matter becuase like i said, i thnk red wing will take this section. This would be similar to the cloquet upset. But if it doesnt happen its not a big deal.

I would assume with back-to-back games, any team that has a blow-out tonight and can rest their top line will have a big advantage tomorrow.

My thoughts exactly. RW and NP get the biggest advantage here. AL or West will be at a big disadvantage in my opinion. Both teams rely on there top two lines and it will probably be a very physical game tonight and not be the blowouts I think that will happen with RW and NP

Which is one of the benefits of being a top seed.

Whoever has seen NP or AL play knows that they are very one line orientated which is fine at times but could hurt them late in games. The reason Red Wing beat those teams is because they are fairly deep and don't rely on one player to win games for them on both ends.

I would like to see Red Wing play Lourdes in the final just because Lourdes beat Red Wing early in the year. That would be a great game and I agree it would be decided by a goal late in the game. We shall see, on my way to the Red Wing vs Northfield game right now!

Just got home; and WOW did Red Wing just destroy Northfield, yeah they should have won but it was ugly. Red Wing didn't even skate their 1st line in most of the 2nd and all of the 3rd. I am not sure of the shots but Red Wing must have had 30-40 and Northfield had maybe 4-6 all game. Red Wing's defense was just suffocating the whole game.

Bring on Albert Lea; should be a great game and could go either way.

Albert Lea

Post by goaler »

Not to tout Albert Lea too much, but it is misconception that they are a one-line team.

The AL second and third lines are easily as good as Red Wing's. In fact, the third line has been very productive this year, forechecks well and plays tough defense. One of the third-line starters, Dillon Stolt, took out Andrew Bruggeman with 16 seconds left in the game and may have gotten a fighting major. Bruggeman, who I don't think had a shot in his final high school game, lost his helmet and came up swinging.

AL's win over West was barely good enough, but I'm sure Roy Nystrom would have liked to see a little more energy after a very good first period. No a classic, and they'll have to pick it up to beat Red Wing.

Ok there not a one line team.....they are a 1 man team (Prihoda). Just kidding; should be a good game tomorrow. If AL can prevent Red Wing from going up on them early they could win, if they let the Wingers score a few early goals they are in trouble. Red Wing plays pretty good with a lead because their defense is very solid. I have no doubt that whoever win the AL RW game will win this section.

Hopefully AL will still have some legs left tomorrow, I know Red Wing sat their big guns for over half their game, sounds like AL had to play pretty hard from start to finish to win.

Lourdes really had to work hard to get by Faribault, luckily for them they play the 8:00 pm game tommorrow and not in the afternoon.

I like Red Wing 3-2 over Albert Lea, these two have been playing the best lately and should be the best game of the 4, although the AA games are both intracity games and should have high intensity, but this game should be very good.

New Prague 5 Lourdes 3, New Prague can score and Lourdes defense was awfully leaky tonight. Andreas played well but many shots and few real good ones, Lourdes can be kept on the perimeter fairly easily as they don't like to muck it up and get in front of the net.

AL's puck control was what won the game. West never was able to hold the puck, they were resulted to icing it multiple times to get the line change. West clearly had trouble keeping it in their offensive zone. Great game to be at, not many good chances for West to score.

Top scorer Andrew Bruggemen 1 goal away from tying the single-season goal record, set by Corey Leivermann. Clearly frustrated, Albert Lea pretty much shut him down for the night. Obviously is not happy to end his senior year in a game like this.

#18 Zimmerman had a couple breakouts couldn't finish it, defense was real tight.

Trautman's performance was pretty solid, needed to recover from shots better. First goal scored on him was a huge snipe, he didnt have much he could do about it. Second goal was kind of trashy. Puck on the goal line, poked in. Third one was a slapshot I believe, I don't really remember it.

Overall, AL controlled the puck and thus the game.

Mankato West vs. Albert Lea

Post by Wing Hawk »

Mankato West was completely outplayed tonight. Albert Lea outshot Mankato West 50-16. Trautman had one of the best games he has ever played with 47 quality saves. I am unsure about the previous comment that he should have recovered better from shots. He played an outstanding game. Albert Lea denied Bruggeman the chance at the record tonight. Albert Lea shut down Bruggeman which has been the main offense for this team. Tough game to watch as a Mankato West fan.

That was completely unnecessary for bruggeman to go and hunt down a sophomore who just laid him out when he was trying to throw the hit. He sure didnt go out with any class for a great season by this good hockey player!

I believe Albert Lea has a good shot at Red Wing tomorrow if the shut down their first line. its obviously going to be whos first line shows up to play tomorrow afternoon.

I thing with Red Wing having the last change and there depth will be the differance in this game. RW 4 AL 2.

New Prague has last change that helps. NP does not have the depth that Lourdes has. Lourdes for some reasons does not seem to be playing there best hockey now. I got to believe NP big guns show up big today. NP 4 Lourdes 2.

I guess I was referring to the one incident with the "delay of game".

I'm not sure he "hunted him down" Pretty sure he got right up and challenged Stolt who turtled quite quickly. Stolt threw a very unnecessary cheap elbow"hence his 5 minute major for elbowing" to the head and he had also left his feet to deliver the hit. How else does Bruggemans helmet come off. That's a very dangerous play. Talk about class. How about the group of parents in the corner flipping off the West goalie. This all took away from a great effort by Albert Lea. They came hard and fast the whole game and never gave West any room to operate. They had a great game plan and they stuck to it. I hope AL beats RW today as they have a group of classy kids, Prihoda, Stadheim,Adams and Smerud all great kids delivering great Senior leadership who seem to be on a mission. I would love to see an AL- NP final next Thursday.

5-3 Red Wing....Just too much depth on the Wingers, AL sort of a one-trick pony.
