This will be a close game. Last year south beat north 3 times. This year north will win three times. South has decent offensive zone presence but you can pin them down in their own end get shots to the net and their goaltending is not very good. North will turn the puck over and does not move the puck up the ice all that great but their second line has started to produce some points on a consistent basis. Both teams have weaknesses this will come down to south ability to protect their goaltender v north ability to minimize mistakes. I am taking north but I am bias.

Who will play goal for North tonight?

South has some very good forwards and should be able to score goals..

Depends if they can eliminate the breakdowns defensively.

I see Owatonna outshot them pretty badly but the goaltender played pretty well last night.

Maybe he will stay hot and South may go on....

Defending Section Champs are hard to beat.

Arentz will be in goal for north. I would have to respectfully disagree about south goalie last night. The owls did get alot of shots but not too many good chances, odd man situations or good shot from close in. They did have some scrambles in front of the net in which they just couldn't finish. The owls seemed to have difficulty moving the puck in the offensive zone. The south goalie that played last night has a very weak glove side and has a tendency to end up on his seat and out of position way to often. The strength of south's team is their forwards, Billy Simon is one of the hardest working kids I have ever watched and he will create problems. This will be a fun game too watch.

I did not see the game I was going by the shots glad to be able to watch Matt play today.

I see the young Arentz boy scored a few goals...

See you at the rink!

I thought that big 0 on the Owatonna jerseys stood for Zeroes since that is exactly how many big playoff wins they have had in the past decade since a certain "great coach" arrived on the scene. I still can't believe that he is considered so good. They played a horrible non-conference schedule and finished with only 11 wins? I thought they were going to win the Big Nine this year???? something fishy is going on over there since they had such "a great bantam team" a couple of years ago.

As far as the thread, South is the best team in the section, and if they don't return to state I would be surprised. I say Cougars by 2-3 vs. North today.

My bad on the Owatonna name. If your talking about bad coaches you should take a look at what the panthers have too offer. This is a team that could be around .500 in the lake conference give or take a few games, but we loose games because of mistakes and a culture of mediocrity. If our kids play a solid game we can win this section, but that is a big if. I think mayo has the best balance of the four teams left. They have good goaltending and some kids that can score. We had them 2-0 in Jan and then went in the tank.

Lakeville Souths unbelievable coach KURT WEBER (who if you didnt know "walks on water" according to himself) will carry this team to state again like he thinks he did last year, he has no idea that NO ONE likes him does he? What a tool!!!! south wins 5-3 ENG

I have always wondered about these schools, is there any kind of major rivalry here?

At first there was not a big one because the kids didn't any better but now there is I believe, in football they even have a rivalry trophy if I'm not mistaken and now the youth hockey programs have split so it's on it's way.

Yeah I had always heard about this split and how it was drawing athletes away from the elder school. (correct me if i'm wrong on that)

Is south the newer school?

Yes South is the newer of the two. I'm not sure if there is much switching of athletes from the two schools or not.

That's just what I heard but who knows, could be wrong.
