Lakeville South 6 - Rochester Mayo 3
Shots:
Lakeville South 25
Mayo 18
Spartans scored right away in 3rd to make it 4-3, and then 30 seconds later, Mayo's Flescher hit the post on an open break, which would have tied it.
As it always happens, about 30 seconds after Mayo hits the post, South flew down and scored a beauty. That was the killer... South scored very quick again and that was the game...
Congrats to South! They were the better team today. Capitalized on every 2 on 1 and open break today!
Great season to the Spartans! Come back harder next year! Graduate 2 seniors, and coming off a 20 win season, nothing to hang your head about!
We are very proud of you!

Stillwater 3 Roseville 2 in OT. Again. Sobczak was on between the pipes. Roseville had a huge opportunity with a 5 on 3 advantage and Stillwater killed it off. All 3 games these 2 teams played were one goal victories 2 of them OT. As in any sport when games are that close its hard to beat someone 3 times in a row. 3rd time this season these teams didnt disappoint; they put on a good show.

Here is the summary on the MGHCA site:MNhockeylover wrote:heard the blake- breck game was 4- 2
was it a good game? does the score describe the game?
"A very well played game by both teams for the first two periods. Each team played well defensively and the goaltending was solid. The first goal of the game was scored by tenacious forechecking on the part of Breck's Kayla Mork. Blake then scored three unanswered goals in a span of 2 minutes, with two goals by Dani Cameranesi and an end to end rush by Andi Foss. Sally Komarek had three assists in the game and the final goal by Hillary Crowe was in an empty net to seal the game."
I was at the game and it was very entertaining and exciting throughout. It was 0-0 after two periods and as the recap above says, both goalies were outstanding to keep the other team off the board. The atmosphere was electric as both teams had great support including lots of students who were cheering their teams on. The place was almost 100% full, and getting a parking spot within 6 blocks was a real challenge.
For most of the game Blake had the edge in play and in scoring chances. Shots were 25-16 Blake, but Breck certainly had their moments and Billadeau had to be very sharp in goal to thwart some excellent Breck opportunities that probably would have eluded most netminders.
It's no secret that Breck is very solid with great depth especially for a Class A school. I think it's a shame that these two teams are in the same section and only one gets to go to State. I guess you could say the same this year with Section 8A with Warroad and Roseau, and in Section 4AA with Roseville and Stillwater, but that's the way it is. But all three of these teams that did not make it are excellent and would have likely acquitted themselves very well, maybe even winning it all if only they got there...
