Just the fact that these things are happening does not bode very well for either coaching staff.
Marshall's in particular.
I think I will be cheering for Hibbing.
Those of you that are trying to spin your teams action are also in the wrong.
Contact with the goalie is almost always a penalty and was called in this case.
Going after the player after the incident is over is wrong.
My hope is that this behavior is out of the ordinary and that both schools are reviewing the on ice, hand shake and off ice action of the students involved.

You have to Wonder if the MSHSL is going to step in and review this...this could Boil over to wednesday and the same thing could happen.elliott70 wrote:Just the fact that these things are happening does not bode very well for either coaching staff.

I certainly hope that Virginia and Hibbing show class on Wednesday. I believe they will.
I believe the MSHSL is already looking into what transpired.

There was a pretty good malay at the end of the Hibbing/I Falls game, too. Resulted in a major and an ejection against two of the I Falls players.elliott70 wrote:Just the fact that these things are happening does not bode very well for either coaching staff.

You can PM me with names.
That's a hopeless thought. I hate to make a generalization, but the Range is the epitome of lack of class, both from fans and players. That's not to say that Duluth teams like East, or Marshall are perfect little teams, but there it is definitely more class shown then from the range teams. The problem I see is all the range fans on here creating double standards for themselves. I mean come on, if you actually took off your blinders, you might be disgusted with your behavior. Not trying to make attacks, but sometimes, you need to take a look at perspective. Now by a long shot, Virginia year after year shows the least class of any range team. Good job Bluedevils. And yes, I might be a little biased, but I have pointed out the wrongs that Marshall did (notably 27's inexcusable action). But I bet you money that Virginia's response would be the same if Lustig was ran into, intentional or not. And unlike the Marshall fans (who show class), the Virginia fans would have been swearing at the Marshall player, calling him cheap etc.elliott70 wrote:pacman wrote:elliott70 wrote:Just the fact that these things are happening does not bode very well for either coaching staff.

Time on the clock..i believe their was 4 or 5 minutes leftelliott70 wrote:After the game was over or with time on the clock?pacman wrote:I Forget What exactly Happened all I can Remember is Matt Youso got into a scrum with Ryan Johnson and Tackled him to the Ice and Then Started Punching Johnson in the back of the Head while Johnson was lying on His Belly.
I just looked at the replays of the Marshall Virginia game. Highlights will be on Youtube shortly. The Marshall goalie was outside of the protected zone - just in front of the end zone face off circles. Westin does appear to try to sidestep the goalie who also slid to his left and into Westin's cut to his right ..clearly no penalty, but it's easy to call in slow motion.
The no call that no one is talking about is number 16 for Marshall who was slashing and hooking like crazy during the play that decked the goalie.
Marshall's 27 didn't look good spitting in Westin's face during the closing hand shake. His end butt into Westin's throat is clearly a match penalty ejection call.

Williams is a meat head, I've heard a rumor that he might not be allowed on the team next yearreplay wrote:I just looked at the replays of the Marshall Virginia game. HSH1212-Are you trying to be an #ss or is it just your nature? I think you are VERY confused about the RANGERS-players and fans.
It's in their blood, you can't attend a hockey game north of Duluth that doesn't include some action. I'll agree that this seems to have gone a little far but don't "generalize" the area and the folks that love the game and the athletes.
Your WAY out of line my friend to attack an entire group of people the way that you have....your probably one that doesn't mind using and abusing the trails, lakes and land of the Iron Range although one of the first to criticize and WRONGLY I might add.
Take this with the intent it is offered. There is nothing wrong with a little competition, if you can't take the competitive nature stay away from there!

I won't boil over to Wednesday, because Duluth Marshall will not be playing.pacman wrote:You have to Wonder if the MSHSL is going to step in and review this...this could Boil over to wednesday and the same thing could happen.elliott70 wrote:Just the fact that these things are happening does not bode very well for either coaching staff.

You might as well throw Proctor and Hermantown in the mix, too.HSH1212 wrote:That's a hopeless thought. I think you need to watch the film, or hopefully there will be clips on YouTube, because my posted account is what I saw, not my "spin".elliott70 wrote:Just the fact that these things are happening does not bode very well for either coaching staff.

Now that I've seen the replay, I have to change my initial thought...Westin should not have gotten a penalty...the goalie was out of the protected zone, and we moved to the left into Westin.
How can you make any comment about class, given Marshall's actions. Instead of making generalized comments with nothing to back it up, just stick with the facts please.tjbabcock wrote:if this game is on tape i'd love to see westin's embolishment when mausolf skated up to him. he said that he never even touched westin, just got close enough to wear westin could fake something, like the usual, numerous dives, and falling in the corner to draw a checking from behind. people have to be blind not to notice this kind of garbage. yes virginia won, but they took it to far and won with no class.
and as far as the brawl in the locker rooms. yes number 27 im sure did something, but from an inside source the virginia kids were going by marshalls locker room egging them on, along with virginia's coaching staff. sounds like the news paper is pretty one sided for their blue devils. good luck.
The Virginia kids were going past the Marshall locker room, because they HAD TO...the Marshall locker room was right next to the stairs leading to the exit, and the Virginia players had to walk past it in order to get to the bus. I don't know if the Virginia players were egging them on or not (I wasn't there until things went crazy), but I can assure you that the coaches weren't egging anyone on...they weren't even near the Marshall locker room until Williams went crazy, and even then, they (assistant coach Cornell) only tried to calm everyone down and control the situation.
