Re: Falls vs. Virginia any thoughts???
Kind of sad to see what has happened to the Falls program. In my younger days I was able to see some games up there and remember how competitve the teams were and the great atmohphere in Bronco Arena. How is the community support for the hockey team up in the Falls these days? Do they still pack the rink or is there a lack of interest?

Hopefully they have some kids in the youth program that will help bring the program back to a point where the team is competitive.

Virginia will very respectfully beat the Falls.
Virginia is a class act team! I have been very impressed by the organization, the coaches, the kids, the school and the parents.
May they have a great ride to state!
GO BLUE DEVILS!

I feel bad for the Falls. It's difficult to be at the bottom.

If you need a ride, I can bring you down as I will be going to watch the Hawks play the winner of 8A

That's an unexpected result.

Looks like the Broncos could be a team to deal with in sections.

Re: Falls
Virginia in my estimation is severly overrated. I have seen them play twice and they have not been overly impressive in any manner. It is no surprise to me that the Falls was able to hang with them. In fact, from what I hear, the Falls very easily could have beaten them if they would have capitalized on some opportunities and stayed out of the box.

Re: Falls
I think "severly" would be a poor choice of words, slickslide.

Outscoring your opponents 27-9 while outshooting them 200-121 and winning all of 5 of your games doesn't mean anything? It's not like they're playing the schedules of Silver Bay or Ely.

I think the Broncos may be a bit underrated, I've seen them play twice now and they looked decent. Maybe a little short on the depth chart, but they have a few good players. Aside from the Hibbing game, they've been in every game and I don't think their 1-4 record accurately reflects their play.

Also, I think you can say that any team could've won a close game if they capatilize on a few more opportunities. If Virginia would've capatalized on a few more of theirs, it could've been a route! Virginia outshot them 30-18.

thoughts
This game raised some concerns for me with the blue devils. There seemed to be some defensive breakdowns and the forwards had trouble backchecking resulting in numerous odd man rushes and breakaways. Virginia outshot the Falls I beleive 30-22 but the scoring opportunities would be in favor of the falls by at least a hand full. The only shot for the falls in the first period was a breakaway, they had 4 other breakaways on my count and both of the broncos goals resulted on those breakaways. Three times a falls player was left open in the slot but they never could capatilize, one of those hit a post on a wide open net. Virginia's goalie Hoche was pretty sharp making crucial saves few and far between. Hopefully the blue devils can bounce back from this bad night as they have a tough week ahead of them with home games against Denfeld and Park of Cottage Grove.

Re: thoughts
It just seems to be me like their top players are not what they were touted to be. Maybe "severly" was a little much but I don't see alot from them compared to pre-season prognostications. I am going on secondhand info from last nite but my source tells me the Falls probably should have won the game. The bottom line is this, I don't see that team winning three in a row in February and advancing to St. Paul.
