Not going to lie. I was cheering for tech on saturday. Roseau is going to be a tough team to beat 3 times in a row. They pull there heads out of there rear ends during sections every year. Its going to be a very close, very good game. GO SPUDS!

Spuds will take it in another overtime thriller. 4-3

I didn't ask for your biased comments about the coach. Stay on topic or stay out.
Your question was "who wins, and why".......

Moranville still coaching - could that be a "why" Roseau might win??.........just a thought

50-50 chance for both - both teams have had good and bad games throughout the year.....I'm hoping for Roseau 4-3

3-1 Moorhead...Go Spuds :)
Good point, nordski48. The Spuds beat Buffalo on Saturday without Alex Altenbernd, arguably their best player. But they'll need a full squad of healthy players on Wednesday to beat Roseau again, and their best players will need to step up.

I agree with you Cityspudsguy. Roseau is going to bring it hard on Wed. Spuds will step it up no matter what. They will not let another one get away, Especially because its Roseau.

I agree with the thoughts that Roseau is going to be tough no questions asked but Moorhead has been coming hard with there late season swing and i dont think that Moorhead is going to let Roseau get the best of them! Moorhead will come out slow but then turn it on! But good luck Moorhead go get'em boys!!!

GO SPUDS!!! :D

I'm not biting on any comments about Dave Morinville. Note the correct spelling.

Will Altenbernd be suiting up on Wednesday?

Roseau should've won game number two. They'll take this one and go to state. I almost want to predict they'll win a game at state too.

Agreed. Not only will the lose the first game put the second game at State as well. It will make for an early trip back to the northwoods!

Its going to be a disapointing tourney for the outstate teams as I see an All Metro championship in both Classes.
I have to disagree with the statement that the out state teams will be disappointed. I have to think Warroad is on a roll and has been very dominant, and stands a great chance to come home with the hardware.

I don't think the winner of this section will go 2 and out. With section 1,3, and 4 sending a shaky team there is a good shot that even if the section 8AA winner loses the quarterfinal, they could have a good chance in getting the 5th place trophy. Now lets look at the other hand. Whomever comes out of section 7AA has had some questionable losses and they have shown they aren't invincible and can get outplayed. Same goes for section 5AA, with the exception of Blaine. With all of that considered, the section 8AA champion could very possibly be looking at a semi final match with a spot in the championship game on the line.

The fact of the matter is that there may only be a couple of teams at the AA state tournament that don't have bad blemishes on their record and may seem like favorites. But, those teams have to remember that it's March and anything can happen. Also, with the way this year has went where anyone can beat anyone else no matter what class they're in on any given day, it's hard to predict what is going to happen. I can't wait!

Sheep over the tots in a close one.

The teams are really evenly matched this year. Both games this season tilted for the Spuds. They were both really close. Three times in the same year when the teams are as evenly matched as they are? I know it's happened before, but it's really unlikely.

This time the Sheep getthe bounces their way and they take it 3 - 2.

I'd like to see Roseau win but I don't think they will. Everyone always says that it is tough to beat a team 3 times in one year but it happens all the time. Both teams know what is on the line...mostly bragging rights. Whoever advances will most likely get knocked out of the tourney pretty quickly. I want a northern team to win it all but I think the metro is extremely tough this year.

I have to disagree with the suggestion that the Section 8 champion has no chance at state. Did we forget Moorhead went to OT with undefeated and #1 ranked Jefferson and tied #2 ranked Centennial? Nobody played a tougher schedule all year. I don't believe there will be any "underdogs" at state. Believe me, at state, Moorhead will not be taken lightly.
Fiction. Edina and Minnetonka both played tougher schedules.

Spuds

Post by hockeyfan333 »

The Spuds have been on top of their game lately. So their best player has mono who will be a gametime decision. Spuds beatin the rams. 4-2. It will take them time to get going but the Spuds are going to be untouchable. Logan Marks is stellar in net. Moorhead has 3 top lines that can produce and they have speed which roseau will not be able to handle. GO SPUDS!!!!!

Both really close, huh ???????? The first meeting in Roseau was 5-0 ?

(You must like those 27-0 games)

OK, you will have to pardon the long post but thanks to followthepuck.com here are the schedules/results. I will give you Edina but I think there is a valid argument that next to Edina, Moorhead plays one of the toughest schedules in the state. Here are this years schedules and results. I list moorhead #2 behind Edina and Minnetonka #3 but we could argue apples and oranges all day.......... Anyway here they are. We will find out for sure if Altenbernd is ready to play today. I know Spuds can take it without him, But it will be a very comfortable cushion if he plays tomorrow. Lets just hope Roseau comes with there A game because they will need to play there best game of the season. I still feel Spuds will take it no problem.
