Well, I hate to get technical STBS but Farmington got 5th or 6th. Wayzata and Farmington would have had to play each other to determine place.

Tigers had gone undefeated all year using 3 lines and beat MTKA using 3 lines a week or so ago---not only 6 skaters. It was a knee jerk reaction to an early deficit that cost them a shot.

Not to pat ourselves on the back but Rosemount was one of the few final teams to roll lines for the entire tournament. Farmington played there powerplay line almost the whole 2nd period vs tonka. (when they scrimaged tonka and 7 kids there when the games started and they were fightin illness so cant really count that as a quality win) Edina shortened the bench big time and we thought that Dornbach, Bellows and Zuhlsdorf would get tired and we'd take over but they didn't. I'm not making excuses and we play a team game and there top line out played us. Congrats to Edina on victory and I'm glad to say that we beat you guys in Bloomington. Maybe we should get together for game 3 and see who wins the series.

I get a kick out of listening to you guys talk about shortened benches.GF Blues is'nt even a try out team.You get on the team as a mite and you stay on the team for three years, moving up each year.As far as rolling lines we played 8 forwards 4 D equal except the last 5 min. of the Wayzata game. Oh and by the way our goalie was a forward up until jan. when an illness forsed him to eather play goalie or not play at all. All you need is good coaching and hardworking kids. Its sad that you have 100 plus kids to pick from and still have to shorten the bench to compete.The GF Blues made it to the top 8. In the last month they beet the Wi fire, manhandled the Flyers twice 9-1 and 6-2. Metro teams get your heads out of the sand and look around there is alot of good hockey out there.

Dakota, 12 kids is hardly rolling lines, Playing two centers and 4 D makes a big difference when you can have 7 of your top kids on the ice every other shift Especially at this age when one kid can take over a game. Many teams in the cities have a full roster of 17 kids. (three lines and two goalies) I know that Burnsville (also a final 8 team) has an equal play policy at squirts and does abide...even in the last two minutes of the game..All of you tourney winners over the last few years minus Edina's team of last year (Only because they had 15 top end kids)shorten their bench to win the tourney...CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You won a squirt tourney.. what does that have to do with development.. some of those kids that didn't see "powerplay penalty killing" lines will never get the chance to prove themselves in peewees and bantams cause they never were put in the position as squirts and won't know what to do. I have seen it happen. It is great that a third line squirt player has a FARGO medal to display on his shelf when he gets cut by the Bantam coach in two years.

How about associations that only have 35-36 skaters...would you go with two teams of 17-18 skaters each, or three teams of 11-12 skaters each?

I go with the shorter teams, every kid gets more ice time that way.

As I said the Blues [Do not have tryouts].It is first come first serve.All you have to do is make a phone call when your son is a mite age player and your on the team. same with the Supras, kids tend to play where thair brothers or neighbors have played. Supras do have tryouts at squirts. 9F,4D,1G. Is a full squad in my book.Not our fault a player got sick and had to play goalie or quit. That is way we ran 2 centers 3 sets of wings.

Edina and Rosemount ,what a fun game to watch. I guess I didn't see Rosemount shorten their bench till the 3 on 3 overtime. It seemed like the thing to do. no way was the smaller Rosemount kids going to be able to handle the size 3/3. It was fun to watch the strong play and the passing of the Rosemount defense against the big three of Edina. Everyone seems to be against running short lines. I would like to hear from a EDINA parent whos son DIDN'T play in that game. Do you know at the start of the year that your son will sit in big games and how hard is it for them and the parents not to get to be part of the experence.

You can change clubs but the two clubs have an agreement not to take each others players. so there is very little of that. First year you are a sguirt B second year your a squirt A . Only Grand Forks kids can play. Fargo does it similar to the metro area

I know everybody only cares about the A side but the story of the Squirt I was the Park River team that took third on the B side. All 9 squirts that tried out made the team. Two weeks before the season started our goalie moved to Warroad so we promoted our mite goalie. We played an A schedule including Fargo Flyers A and GF Blues A and got pounded by the big dogs but still took 6 place out of 9 teams in our league. This toughens your team up and gets them playing A speed and you might be amazed that a C player and we have several can and will play at a higher level when force fed an A schedule. So with 9 Squirts and 3 mites we beat Rosemount, Eagan, Burnsville, EGF, Wayzata and only lost to Fort Frances in OT after outshooting them 39-16. A hot goalie. Second year in a row Park River has finished in top four.

Ice time is what makes players. Being on the best team does you no good if you don't get icetime.

FYI - Park River is a town of 1500 that has produced 3 D-I players.
