In the American Region, it appears that Minnetonka and OMG are outclassed by the rest of the teams. You have to assume they might not win a game since they don't play each other. Edina is better than Burnsville and Mounds View, so they're #1 Blue seed. Burnsville/Mounds View will just pound on each other, and whoever wins their head-to-head will be #2. On the red side, Wayzata and Eden Prairie is a toss up. Highland is good, but not good enough. So then, you have to figure that whoever wins the Red side will beat the #2 Blue team, so #1 seed in Red moves on. Whoever's #2 in Red will then get Edina. That will be close. Let's say Red #2 beats Edina. Then Edina gets either Burnsville or Mounds View and they won't lose that. So, let's go with Edina, Eden Prairie and Wayzata to state, where one of them will probably win.

Very good team, but certainly not unbeatable. Was there when they were up 4-0 on Anoka in the D10 championship game and quickly gave up 3 goals to let the Tornados back in the game. They also lost 3 games in one weekend back in mid January (were they missing a key player?). Very good when they are on, but seem like they can play hot/cold- No offense meant and in my very humble opinion. I think they and Anoka deserve their current LPH rankings, but are beatable. Buffalo is a interesting dark horse who despite having 6 girls with strep throat last weekend were able to win 2 of 3 in Andover's pool at districts.LawsonLowLife wrote:Andover top seed from D10 gonna turn some heads at regions!

Agree Anoka and Andover a good, but very beatable. Andover has the fire power but the net minding could cost them. Anoka has the net minder, but the offense could hurt them. Don't they say defense win's championships? Buffalo, NWC, and Champlin have played Anoka and Andover pretty tough and can beat them at any time. I would say Lakeville, Anoka, and Andover are the favorites to advance, but ANY of the other 5 teams could advance. Good luck to all.

I agree Minnetonka is a long shot. Some good observations but what you have seem to have forgotten is that these are 13 year old girls and anything can happen. Edina is the only team I have seen that definetly should go to state. Unfortuneatly, I give the coach very little credit as his bench is so short Im not sure if 8 of his girls will see the ice at all in regions. He should be a good enough coach to not keep passing girls up when their shift is up. It is demeaning to the players, and they may well lose the next Lindsey Whalen, becuase one of these girls quits because it is no longer fun, or, they feel they are not good enough to play (at 13). It is unnecessary to have the same four out there on the power play and shorthanded lines. I would not be happy if my daughter was one of the 11 that gets 2-3 shifts a period. He has some very good players but he is hurting the quantity of good players entering high school soon. Winning isn't everything but the effort to win is.In the American Region, it appears that Minnetonka and OMG are outclassed by the rest of the teams. The Edina Green coaches don't need defending, but I've seen them a lot. The characterization above isn't accurate. Edina Green has a very good first line, and they play a lot, but their second and third lines do play regularly. We watched the game against Minnetonka and it was actually the 2nd line that broke the game open. Their defense is down 2 girls, so they move some kids back there until they get healthy. The second and third lines played regular shifts that game.
Knowing many of the parents on that team, I seriously doubt any are concerned about this. This team has done a great job of developing their kids. Remember, this group is ranked #1 and is half first-years.
The last post is way off base.

Way off base???? My guess is your child played on the white team. I would suggest you talk to some of the "kids" on the green team. Anyone that has seen the green team play understands what I am saying. I did say I think they should definetly go to state. But, I think they would still go to state even if he didn't shorten the bench so much. Btw. game they lost to us 3 kids were out there the entire final 9 minutes (almost). Ironically, when they were up on us 4-1 with about 4 minutes left and a penalty was called, guess who came back out to follow their last shift? I am not "way off base".
How to beat Edina-Dump and chase, tire out the 4 girls, play a weak-side lock and stop their breakaways. You will get plenty of opportunities.

Correct, my daughter played on White. She has plenty of buddies on Green that she played with last year, and if any are as miserable as you claim, they sure are hiding it well. Quite the opposite - those are some of the happiest girls around.
Not sure why you have to make stuff up about how unfair the coaches are, how the kids are being mistreated, how everyone is miserable. It does speak to how deep the anti-Edina feelings out there go. Amazing.

I didn't say they were miserable. I am saying is it does affect the children and parents who are being passed on a regular basis during a game. It's one thing if it is the last 3 minutes of a game and it is tied...If I were the high school girls varsity coach I would be having some serious discussions with the board. I would want them to win, but more importantly I would want all 15 girls to develop game situations so when they reach high school they are ready. These are the best 15 at that age group, in Edina, and all are very good players. The point being the best 5 right now might not, or might not have been, the best 5 come high school. These girls will learn in a couple of years that if you are one of the best 5 or 9 players on the team you won't get much ice time. But I think at 13 that is a little early.
