Jake is a mediocre player on Woodbury's Bantam A team. He was a VERY good squirt player and a good Pee Wee player but his size is limiting now........especially since he doesn't have the speed to make up for his size. Jake can't beat any good defenseman 1x1........"Smart" players really cause commotion in the offensive zone and are always in position defensively...........I just haven't seen that with this skater..........Am sure Jake is a leader on this current team which makes his contributions just as valuable!!!!
Woodbury has a very talented team that could easily make some noise in the Regions..........

These seem to be a little contradictory, a mediocre player, leading his very talented team???Woodbury has a very talented team that could easily make some noise in the Regions
#9 is small, doesn't have blinding speed, but has found a way to put up big numbers at each level he has played. Great hands and puck skills, and he probably sees the ice better than any player at this level. And the kid can flat out score!!
Doing more with less, sounds pretty "smart" to me.

Who cares. Smart or not this particular player is one of the smallest Bantam As around this season. Definitely the weakest on his team. He's a first year so definitely not among the top 100 Bantam As.
Mike, get off the Forum. I'm surprised you have time being busy with the Colorado College job and all.

good call Night Train,
Is it just me, or has anyone noticed a pattern among all of these "Best Of" boards where they are pumping kids who are '94s?
Virtually all of the top 10 Bantam teams are being carried by '93s, yet we hear nothing about them.
Me thinks that there is some serious pumping going on in light of Advanced 15s being just around the corner and some kids need some PR. We see above average, but very marginal players being pumped like they are the next Crosby, Brodeur, or Lidstrom.
I mean c'mon --- the "Smartest Bantam A". I think I've seen it all now!
Agree or disagree?

OK star, lets talk about this particular thread. Whom do you peg as the smartest Bantam A in the state. How many of the 100+ coaches have you talked with.
Criteria - Skill above average, ice awareness, sees play before it happens, activity without the puck, special teams play, locker room, leadership qualities. These would be qualities you would look for give or take a few subject to individual opinion.
Based on the above statement I would say this thread is next to impossible to answer accurately. I can tell you who the smartest player on my sons Bantam A team is. I can tell you who I think is the smartest player on a couple of the teams in his district but I have no idea how they are in the locker room or with leadership.
How many different Bantam A teams did you watch this winter? 30 to 40 max if you have a kid on a Bantam A team or coach one.
The question posed here is, "Who is the smartest Bantam A player in the state?" That question has not delivered much of a range of players, just 1 from Woodbury, who I will add is a very good player skill wise and mentally. Best in the state though? I can't answer that and neither can you.
If the question had been, "Who have you seen this winter that you think is the smartest Bantam A in the state?" I would say Lucas Kohls from Forest Lake. We have had the misfortune of seeing him 3 times this winter and he continues to make play after play without ever being out of position that I have seen. Is he the best in the state? Who knows, I don't, do you? I really don't think so.
I know I created an account yesterday but I am no rookie to this site. I have been reading it religeously for 2 years. Most of the topics that come through are informative and very interesting to see the different perspectives, this is not one of those topics. This topic is unanswerable.

If this is the criteria for posting on this site, better "shut r' down" now!! Unless someone is asking specifically about the time/location of a game, the outcome of a game, the how many players are on a particular team, everything is definitively answerable. That is what this site is for, but I can understand if you think this one is better; This topic is unanswerable

I think that is what we were doing, No???I do stand by the premise of my words though, lets get some opinions and names from around the state. Even then there will be virtually no way to narrow this down to 1.

Ok netminder, prior to my long post we have 8 posts about JG from Woodbury whom I agree should be in the discussion. I brought up LK from Forest Lake. If giving opinions of many players that people have seen = 8 posts about JG then I stand corrected.
BTW.................Who would your vote got to on this topic?

Smartest Bantam A
Easily the smartest player would be # 78 From Little falls. I have seen him 3 different times in The lobby of hotels beat the contestant on "who wants to be a millionaire" Have also talked with education scouts and the kid can solve math problems like no other - with very little practice!
I believe Grant Besse is a 94. And AV's best player is a 95.starmvp wrote:Sorry, but Wayzata is being carried by 93sLionKing2 wrote:I'm pretty sure that Wayzata, the top team in the state, is being carried by a 94...conditioningsucks wrote: Virtually all of the top 10 Bantam teams are being carried by '93s, yet we hear nothing about them.
I think that many people would disagree with you on that starmvp, I believe that Besse is leading Wayzata in points or is an extremely close secondstarmvp wrote:He is not Wayzata's best player.Hoops wrote:I believe Grant Besse is a 94.
