i think it comes down to who takes the body more!Alexandria doesnt have size to them while on the other hand Little Falls has big hitters like Jordan Moll Jordan Gosiak and Izaak Berglund! i think if LF can take the body right away and knock Alex around it will open up the ice a lot and give Alex very few scoring chances

There is a big difference between big hitters and headcases. Moll and Berglund are headcases...SlapShotSniper wrote:i think it comes down to who takes the body more!Alexandria doesnt have size to them while on the other hand Little Falls has big hitters like Jordan Moll Jordan Gosiak and Izaak Berglund! i think if LF can take the body right away and knock Alex around it will open up the ice a lot and give Alex very few scoring chances

I will agree with you on Moll, but not with Berglund.theblandyman wrote:There is a big difference between big hitters and headcases. I,m going with the Flyers 5-2 The one reason why big Ben didn't go on and play juniors this year is because he thought this team could make it back to state, and compete for a title. If you think for one minute that he is going to let Alex. take this one from him and his team your nuts.
This will be a good game. There will be a few moments where Flyer fans
may cringe, but in the last periods Little Falls will dominate like they have all year.

Its kind of ridiculous for some to say little falls will win by 5 and this game will be a running time game. Both are great teams and it will be a close well fought game. Thats great that ben came back and im sure he wants to make it to the X again. But I can guarentee that the alex boys want it just as bad . They have been beat in the section final a couple times and they will do anything they can to win . And I can bet hemingway will not be nervous. Sperl is the one with all of the pressure on him.
yes Sperl has ALOT of pressure!! and little falls hits more and harder but i dont think one time this year has Alex played a team smaller then them... saying they get the W some other way. Alex has speed and if they come ready to play i think alex can plain out work little falls.. Alex is the better TEAM Hano just keeps LF in every game.

will somebody please explain to me where you are getting these rediculous idea's that little falls is going to score 5 or 6 goals against alex? Alex has given up 4 goals twice this season, once IN little falls, and the other against cathedral, and all of the sudden you think little falls is going to light them up in the biggest game of the year? Get real here

yes moll and berglund are headcases but in the section final game against a good team like Alex i dont think they will get out of control!they know what needs to be done and they know that nobody can skate with the flyers 5 on 5 so i dont see any dumb penalties on there part!this will be a great game!

i dont see how you can say that Hano keeps LF in every game when there has only been 4 one goal games and if im correct he only got one GW goal and that was against cathedral!little falls has speed and size and Alex has speed!its going to be a fast paced game and a hard hitting game on the little falls side!MNCHAMPS wrote:yes Sperl has ALOT of pressure!! and little falls hits more and harder but i dont think one time this year has Alex played a team smaller then them... saying they get the W some other way. SlapShot Sniper you have got to be kidding me. There is more to keeping your team in a game than scoring the game winner. Look at the one goal games: SCC was a 5-4 win and HANO had 5 pts, Alex was a 4-3 win and he had 3 pts. another Alex win 1-0 and he got the assist and that play was all him. I definately wouldnt say little falls has size either. Both teams are rather small. MNCHAMPS is right HANO is he the team and everyone knows if he wasnt there Little falls would be done for.

Card boys' hockey: A return engagement in Section 6A hockey
Alexandria Echo Press
Published Wednesday, March 04, 2009
Alexandria boys’ hockey fans will get the rematch that they were hoping for heading into the Section 6A Tournament.
The Cardinals made sure of that with a 5-1 win over Sartell-St. Stephen on Saturday. That will give them another shot at knocking off undefeated Little Falls when the two teams meet in the section championship tomorrow night, Thursday, at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud.
Alexandria wasted no time setting the tone against the Sabres on Saturday. The Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period. Casey Vangsness and Bennett Black got them started, and Tyler Resch scored with 14 seconds left in the period to take a commanding lead.

“Jumping out to an early lead is exactly what we were looking for,” head coach Scott Woods said. “We know teams will know they have an uphill battle against us if we get a lead. We are a good defensive team and have excellent goaltending.”
That lead was pushed to 5-0 in the second period off of goals from Thomas Williams and Ross Thompson. Things got physical from there. They reached their boiling point when Matt Hemingway was knocked into the net, eliciting a five-minute penalty on the Sabres and an ejection.
“When things got heated, we had a meeting while the refs were sorting out some penalties,” Woods said. “I told them they had the section final to think about. The refs were ready to give game misconducts, and we couldn’t afford to lose anyone. I also told them that if anyone said or did anything out of line, they were done for the night. I didn’t want them to make a bad choice when they were heated. Our guys handled it well.”
The Sabres added a goal before the final buzzer rang, but it was too little, too late as the Cardinals skated into the section finals.
Waiting for them will be Central Lakes Conference rival Little Falls, who took care of Fergus Falls 5-2 on Saturday.
These two teams know plenty about each other. The Flyers won two one-goal games against Alexandria during the regular season.
The Cardinals have played Little Falls as good as anyone this season and had chances to come away with a win in both match ups. Those close contests have Alexandria feeling they have the talent to hand the Flyers their first loss of the season.
“I think the attitude is good,” Woods said of his team. “We have shown we are right there with them. We know we can beat them, and we know it is hard to beat a tough opponent three times in the same season.”
Little Falls has advanced to the state tournament four years straight. The Cardinals hope to end that tomorrow night when the puck drops at 7 p.m.
“We need to play at the top of our game,” Woods said. “Any mistake for either team will be critical. Being mentally sharp, staying out of the box and limiting [Ben] Hanowski’s chances will be key.”
Well there head coach says they know they can beat LF . . . Confidence is high in Alex.

Thanks bruce.. and slapshotsniper you have no idea what your talking about hano has averaged 4 plus points a game!! and maybe there is only a couple games that he has won at the end but thats only do to there week schedule.. he is there team... id say they are pretty lucky to have the leading point holder on there team.
This is exactly what i've been thinking this week while reading these posts. I've been thinking that either Hemmingway or Ben will have a huge game and clearly be the standout player. The way I was looking at it was which player is more determined to prove themselves and help show their team should be respected. Knowing Ben's work ethic and his whole background, I don't know if he'll let the Flyers lose. The first goal in this game is going to mean everything.Bigfan wrote:I,m going with the Flyers 5-2 The one reason why big Ben didn't go on and play juniors this year is because he thought this team could make it back to state, and compete for a title. Hemmingway won't be nervous? I am willing to bet you that you aren't going to be able to find a kid out on the ice that won't be nervous tomorrow night. Everyone of them have their reasons, especially when you are a senior and you haven't beaten your counterpart on the other end. There will be an equal amount of pressure. This should be fun.officeman wrote:Its kind of ridiculous for some to say little falls will win by 5 and this game will be a running time game.
