7A Final vs 5A Final

Post by HSH1212 »

Hey everyone, just a question for what game you will be attending tommorow (assuming you go).

7A Final: Virginia vs Hibbing

5A Final: St. Cloud Cathedral vs Hermantown

I am still deciding which one to attend.

Pros (of 7A)
- rivalry game
- at the DECC (no drive to Cloquet!!)
- the more tradition of 7A (section 7A games always seem bigger and have a more imporant feel to them)

Pros (of 5A)
- two better hockey teams (then the 7A Final)
- small rink feel
- better chance that one of these teams will make a run for the state championship

Louder game?? Closer game?? Basically, I want to go to the most exciting game, which none of us will know tell after the fact... but, one has to be more appealing and I can't figure it out!!

Someone enlighten me. I have to decide which one to go to.

p.s.
This is obviously directed at the Duluth area residents who will have a choice to go to either one, watch the 7A on WDIO, or just pay no attention to either game.

Last year I went to the 5A final, and it was tough trying to find a place to stand up above without having to look over peoples heads. Finding a place to sit was even tougher. The place was packed; normally I like that but not in that situation.

I'll be at tDECC tomorrow night for that reason (oh, and a two minute drive versus 20 minutes). Plus, it's more comfortable. Another plus; two public schools. Image.

I think you hit the pros and cons pretty much dead on. I just wanted to throw one guy's perspective in there. :)

Go to 7a. There is nothing better than a high school game at the DECC with a trip to state on the line. Plus its a rivalry game so it makes it that much more intense!!!!

Thank you for starting this. I was debating it myself. I think I'm going to the DECC since I have a buddy who is a Hibbing fan, and I can't wait to cheer against him.

The atmosphere should be electric at the DECC tomorrow night.

I am sadly not in Duluth, but if I were, I'd go to the DECC. I've never paid money to watch A hockey, but I'd do it for these two in a section final. Both should be great games, though.

Ideally, this should have been a double header at the DECC. 5A at 5:30 (to allow an earlier return home for Cathedral or any other potential southern team) and 7A at 8:00. There would be no where left to sit by the time 7:30 rolled around, guaranteed!

Since its not, I'll be at the DECC. Rivalry over quality (and really not by much in the quality department at all) wins out every time. The atmosphere will be unbeatable at the DECC. The distance between St. Cloud and Hermantown kills that section game type of feel.

Watching games on TV doesn't compare to being at the arena, so that was never an option in my book.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch buddy.

Both games are going to be fantastic but go to the 7A game. DECC is going to loud and rocking. Its going to be a lot of fun.

You are exactly right...I'm surprised it wasn't a double header.

I will be at the decc. Although I love the atmosphere and sightlines in Cloquet, I hate the parking.

What, you don't like taking your life in your hands walking that narrow road two blocks to your car after the game? Waiting for someone in line to hopefully let your car into traffic? Taking twenty minutes to get out onto Hwy 33? Image
