I'm glad so many people are looking at this opinion, I have watched 30 plus dist 6 games and maybe 30 On my own time. I might miss a number here or there dont take it personal I am close to 40 years of age. Looking threw some old score sheets I found a number #12 from edina and # 8 from the hornets as well as #89 from apple valley. They get a regular shift in D 6 Best district money can spend. Go all stars!!!!!!

You sure do value your opinion. Which #/association is your player? Sorry, but we all know what these threads begin with and end with.... a parent pimping their player even if inconspicuously. I'm sure your player is a very fine player along with all those that have made your Opinion All Star Team. Congrats!PuckBag and a DozenSticks wrote:I'm glad so many people are looking at this opinion, I have watched 30 plus dist 6 games and maybe 30 On my own time. That's what is nice about being a hockey dad coach and love for the game we all have opinions. I'm not here pumping anyone up just sharing my thoughts on a fun year in the district 6 conf. If I wanted to pump my son up with this post he would stand behind me and tell me what to say. Go wild 3 -3 5 min in the third. If you have someone to add feel free it's open to all. Thanks again PBAGAND12STICKS

Within D6, the top players I saw at the end of the season are listed below (no order intended, just numbered 1-10):
1.#6 (or that “walker kid”) Edina-Small, first year, defenseman for the Hornets that proved especially tough especially rushing the puck. He will be fun to watch as he grows and matures.
2.#89 Apple Valley-Second year player for the Eagles that started at defense, but was moved to a wing in January where he combined his size and toughness with a better overall game awareness to really dominate on the ice. Played his last two games injured (with a separated shoulder).
3.#14 Chaska-A big center/wing that can really skate who took apart Edina in the Hawks first D6 playoff game against the Hornets.
4.Edina’s big line #17, #21 and #22-Started playing together in late December and started to really click in late January. They really played well in D6 playoffs, East Regional and State tourneys and were one of the key reasons Edina made it to the State Semifinals.
5.Burnsville’s best line #16, #19 and #15-These three kids were the backbone of a strong Burnsville team and when on the ice together would dominate. Fortunately for the Blaze, they could also play tough individually and provide support by playing heads-up hockey as individuals.
6.Apple Valley’s #77-A second year player who has grown and may have found himself playing defense. He always had the skating and puck handling ability, but learned toughness and showed great game awareness playing defense late in the season.
7.Eastview’s #15-Played a solid wing position and showed excellent judgment on offense in either moving the puck or taking the shot. Should improve a lot and excel in the future.
8.Eastview’s #89-Tough defenseman that also played forward during the season. He never stopped skating during a game and should be something to watch as he matures.
9.Burnsville’s goalies-Both goalies played each game. One would start the game, the other would enter half-way through the game. The other would start the next game and the first would enter at the half-way point. During the D6 championship game with Edina, Burnsville had a 1-0 lead and at the half-way mark, Edina was on the power play when the game clock stopped. The goalies were switched and Edina didn’t score.
10.Kennedy’s #8-Fast smooth skating center with a great scoring ability that struggled as the season progressed, but still led the Kennedy Eagles to a good season.

It was a struggle to not pick kids, especially those on teams that played well. Eden Prairie, Shakopee and Prior Lake had great seasons. Minnetonka and Jefferson had disappointing seasons. I saw each of those teams play more then once, at the start of the season, at mid-season and at the end of the season. The Eden Prairie team faded in the last month of the season and lost four of their last six D6 league games (the Eagles good win was beating Edina 5-3 in late January). If I were to pick the players at the end of December, at least two Eagles would have been on the list and probably no Apple Valley players. But after the season, the Eden Prairie kids just didn’t make it in comparison to the others.
Because these kids are peewee and growing while developing their skills, I tend to look at the results at the end of the season. The Edina kids mentioned struggled from the start of the season and would not be on the list if they played that way at the end of the season. One of the Edina kids was just a good player and barely noticeable in early January from the other Hornets.
Of the Tonka players, one of their lines showed potential at the start of the season, showed the same potential at mid-season in the Bloomington tourney, but failed by the end of the year to add a better overall game awareness so essential to play well in D6. Their lack of development is a lack of mental maturity that would give the kids a better understanding of the game and is not to be blamed on the Tonka coaches. That lack of mental understanding showed when they could not compete for the #5 seed in the D6 playoffs (Chaska took it).
Jefferson kids played like champions at times and played poorly the next game or the next period. They were like driving a race car with a sputtering engine. When it ran smoothly, they were great. When the Jags started to sputter, they were over run.
Prior Lake had a great year as a team. If they can string a couple season like that to add to the last two, they may have arrived as solid competitor in D6. But their forte was good solid team play. Shakopee had a great season, but their true test to determine if they have finally arrived (at the D6 peeweee A level), will be if they continue to improve and develop next year. Like Prior Lake, their success this season was improvement in overall depth of skills of the players on their team, not due to the great play of a single player. But none of Jefferson, Prior Lake or Shakopee kids put their game together by season end to match those on the list (my opinion).

Freddy boy - EP might have faded a bit - But still finished 3rd in the District - Lost to Edina 4-3 (after being up 3-0 in the 2nd)to get knocked out of the playoffs and you don't have one kid listed....
And you said you rate your picks by the outcome of the season..? But you have Eastview, Apple Valley, Chaska, Kennedy kids listed - Thier team finished below EP...Even though I like most of the picks..
Nice try at throwing the Eagles under the bus...I shouldn't even be writing a response to this but I can't help myself....Your drunk or something man or just hate EP that much. Whatever - I used to appreciate your post (somewhat),...But your true colors shine through...You didn't even pick one of the better defenseman in the District..Brandon Smith for your beloved AV team - WOW.
