Good call, Minnetonka was completely out-played tonight. Maybe next year...

Well, at least you called it. It was wrong, but you called it, which is more than can be said for many.

MTKA outshot EP 36-19 - hard to say they were outplayed. EP makes 'em count, though.

Tough breaks for some excellent Tonka squads in back-to-back years. Call White Bear folks if you need a pick-me-up.[/quote]

Unfortunately I didn't get to see much of this game. From the shots it looks as though Minnetonka's goalie might have struggled a bit. Was it a pretty even game back and forth otherwise?

The shot count was not very accurate. EP was clearly the better team tonight and had many more scoring chances. I was amazed at the shot count so I started paying attention to it - twice I saw a shot from the point deflect off a leg/skate in front of the net and go in the corner and, sure enough, they marked a shot for Tonka.

Anyways, like I said, EP outplayed them. Tonka really didn't show up for this game. I was hoping for a good back and forth game but it was pretty one sided. No penalties even until the last few minutes.

I wouldn't say Tonka's goalie played bad - 2 of EP's goals were rebounds on the door step, and another was a nice shot by Wolfe. Ford did play well for EP - he had a couple of very nice saves.

Your Spuds wouldn't have even made it past the semifinal in this section so consider yourself lucky and keep your mouth shut.

The scoreboard at Mariucci had Ep in the low 20's, which was a joke. They easially had high 20's to low 30's. EP completly outplayed Tonka in all aspects of this one.

That "feeling" might merely have been a little gas?

Minnetonka was a fairly solid squad, this year.
State title caliber, though? Not so much.

I'd agree with most of this. Most of Tonka's shots were to the outside and nothing really in close, minus the the two goals. Gardiner had a few scoring chances from about the top of the circle or a little bit in, but that was about it. Everything else was out, so the shots were deceiving.

And I don't think Tonka's goalie was bad. First goal was a nice shot in the slot that most high school goalies wouldn't have stopped. 2nd goal was a nice rebound goal. Third goal probably shouldn't have counted because the net was off, but them's the breaks. I do think the 4th goal shoudl have been controlled by the goalie. But EP completely took control of the game in the 3rd period. Tonka was a VERY good hockey team. They just had a better team in their section in EP.

Sounds like it was a good game. I really hope when they realign the sections they split up EP and Tonka, both these teams are very young and should be top teams in the state in the coming years.

That's the report I heard also. Sounded like Tonka's quality chances weren't near what EP's were. A lot of outside perimeter shots is what I heard, not too much in tight.
