Not tonight. First time I've seen Jefferson play, and came away very disappointed, including the goaltending. On at least three of Edina's goals he went low before the shots were even released, and Edina beat him up high. It was like they scouted him beforehand and knew what to do.
Although Jefferson got totally outplayed for almost the entire game, I counted 5 times when they had point blank opportunities to score, but came away empty. To make it a game they would have had to score on pretty much all five of them, but they did have some excellent chances. Edina's goalie played well when he had to, and got a little lucky a couple of times when Jefferson didn't cash in the few times when he was caught out of position.
This game failed to deliver. I was very disappointed. Going in I didn't really care who won. Edina was better on paper and Jefferson had played well all year. I thought for sure both teams would elevate their game and go round for round with each other. Possibly an overtime game. Edina brought it, Jefferson didn't. Good season for the Jaguars though. Best wishes to the Hornets in St. Paul.

Was the Edina squad so much more relaxed than Jefferson? It sure looked that way.
I recall in the thread on Edina vs AHA, one poster commented on the wealth of big game experience for so many of Edina's players. Quite possibly, that may have been the difference.

this is my only guess as to how edina dominated so much. They have played all all the big games (and losing the biggest ) that they knew what to do and how hard they had to play. Lee and Everson looked like leaders out there and showed the heart to win that game. Now, they were both on the ice for about 30 minutes but if that is what it takes...

Lee, Everson & Gaarder got plenty of rest during the 3rd period when Edina was rolling 3 lines equally. They didn't have to use as much energy offensively as well since there was only 1 2 on 1 opportunity in the 3rd for the Hornets.
I love quotes like this from coaches like Lindquist: "They didn't give us a lot of opportunities. But it's hard to get opportunities when you don't move your feet.''
Jefferson was moving their feet......the problem was that Edina was moving their's at a much higher speed. Not only was the speed a factor, but I thought Edina was way more physical as well. Nothing summed up the game more than when Lee completely bowled over Pauluk, took the puck, dropped it back to Everson, who clanked it off the post. Edina was in complete "DANCE, MONKEYS.......DANCE!" mode at that point. Poor Pauluk...he looked completely overmatched and seemed to have a deer in the headlights look.
Man this one was disappointing. I hadn't seen Jefferson play this year and from the hype they were receiving on the board I was expecting a great game. Jefferson was brutal. Edina was just flat out way better.
Everson had his way with the Jefferson goalie especially on the PP. When Everson would get it on the goal line, he'd take two strides in and shoot top right corner everytime, scoring on a couple. Jefferson's goalie had his shoulder dipped down and was on the ice like he was ancticipating pass, leaving a ton of room upstairs. The next goalie that plays Edina better keep his feet and hug the pipe.

I believe that WAS the point...in reference to moving your feet

Pauluk had a couple great hits, a couple great blocked shots, and rushed the puck well. He had a good game so I really don't know what you were watching out there.
Why was Jefferson so hyped all season? I was disappointed. That was the first time I saw Jefferson play all year and I knew it would come down to those two teams in the section final, and i thought Jefferson would handle them and win.
So can someone who has seen Jefferson play more often this season tell me... did they just not play well last night, was it a bad night for them? Edina looked really good last night, but Jefferson didn't show me much of anything.
Jefferson is a good team, no matter what you think after yesterdays game. But clearly, by watching the game they were more nervous than a guy about to propose to his girlfriend. By the time the nerves settled down too the game was 2, 3 nothing and the game was pretty much over. Tooshay Edina, they played like they had been there before and took it to Jefferson from the drop of the puck.
Basically in my mind i had thought that whoever scored the first goal would win. Both teams in every game this year had been leading in almost every game they played and when Edina scored a quick one and then Jefferson hit that crossbar and then Edina scored right after that...the game was over in my mind. I don't believe the Jags had ever been down 2 goals all year and there was no way that they were gonna come back because simply they didnt know how. The jags were a solid team and if these two teams played again today we would see a very different outcome but things just don't work that way.
Very solid year for the jags and they should keep there head up because 26-2 speaks for itself. Herbert and company all return next year and should once again be fun to watch.
As far as Edina, will see if third time is the charm for these kids......

watched almost every jefferson game this year, and was extremely disappointed on how they played. the whole team played bad. Their defensive group, who was the best defensive group in the state soming into the game, looked horrendous. Their breakouts were sloppy, and they gave edina too many power plays. the edina boys realy made them look silly. the jags had a great season though, and look for them next year, their junior and sohmore class is very talented.
Well, Edina was just flat out better. Period. All aspects of the game. In the third period Edina's third line matched up just fine with Jefferson's first line. I was dissapointed to say the least. By the end of the 1st, Jefferson only had one more shot on goal than Edina had goals.
The same would have been true after the 2nd period if some of Jefferson's dump ins from the red line hadn't ended up on net.
For anyone trying to analyze the crap out of this game. It's this simple. Edina was better, faster, stronger, more disciplined, play better position. Jefferson kept trying to dump and chase in the first.. but it didn't work because Edina beat them to the puck, when they didnt they were stronger, and they broke out easily. When Jefferson started trying to carry it in, Edina's defense demolished them and they rarely controlled the puck inside Edina's zone.
