Century is lucky to draw Blaine, who IMO is the weakest of the 4 seeded teams. I don't think it will be a big blow out but I do think blaine will win by a few goals

Why no poll?

I'd say that Blaine should win by 3, but that Century has a really good defense and, despite probably losing, they will keep it close.

Blaine's a bunch of scrubs, Century will take the game 2-1 in OT. Bill Grinde slap shot from the blue, top shelf, game over.

Interesting game for me I know several of the kids on the Blaine team

Tufte and Scheid my cousins boy.

I think Century can win if the keep up the high energy and great physical play and keep going to the net.

Jordan Martini Kautz Anderson soph line is on fire. I have never seen Joe Faupel skate so well as he has been. Dmen Ryan Knoepke and Bill Grinde get better each game. Goalie is very good and the line of Birkestrand Connor Faupel Anderson sr has looked very good. Great 3 line balanced attack all can play physical and score goals. Raeschler is a weapon on the backside and Samuelson is playing very well too!! If they don't reach and skate and finish thier checks they will be very hard to beat.

Let's go panthers lets make sure the Section 1 guys stay in St. Paul for the whole tourney. win the first one and anything can happen.. GOOD LUCK

Century might be able to keep it close for a period or two, but this the one game in which I do not think an upset could happen.

Osseo took it to Blaine with two line for 2 1/2 periods. Century's three lines will make it tough for Blaine.

I think anybody watching that game will agree that was the worst played game by Blaine all year. They played absoloutly aweful until the last minute and then OT. They will be ready to play for thursday...

funny how tardyformrhockey says that when his Hounds lost to this century team earlier this year. Am i saying century is better. No. but i do think they can beat the bengals if they play like they have been lately and grind it out

oh im not even a hounds fan, i am from the cities and really don't like the northern teams.... but if i remember east heavily outshot century and this is a bengals century thread so if we are gonna relate east to both teams blaine handily beat east earlier in the year also when they were not heavily outshot. :!:

the bengals are just to powerful for your panthers. Sorry

i really dont know what will happen having never seen Blaine play however from the looks of it Century has a solid team nothing flashy and no superstars they just seem to get the job done.. its up to the goalie to how their tourny will go, but i think if they can pop in an early goal and get a lead they have a shot

thats a fair argument, however i just feel that blaine had trouble with osseo and their style of play which is similar to the way century plays. Coach Frutiger likes to roll 3 lines all game. Come tourny time you never know what will happen. I just dont see a blowout like you predict.

Can Century skate with Bjugstad Frischmann Scheid line????

Post by Sioux Fan »

Century is a big team a strong team and a physical team but do they have the speed to skate with Blaine and stay out of the box.

If they can finish their checks and get loose for some chances they can win.

What are the lines for Blaine

Century was strong on three balanced lines last night

thats a fair argument also, but im a NWSC guy and have watched blaine play multiple times and the osseo game was by far the worst they have played all year

Based on the draw and the way they played against Centennial...I like Blaine's chances to advance to the Championship game Saturday night.

Things must be awfully said in Cougar country today...hard to believe they were put on running time by the Bengals.

Yes i was really suprised to see a 7-1 score in a section title game. I know the Bengals are a good team, ive heard about them all year and winning that section obviously speaks for itself.

An interesting match up as both teams like to play end to end hockey, Century probably couldn't have gotten a better draw, not that they'll win, just that Blaine isn't as big as Edina or Eden Prairie and they won't won't have the bulletin board material going against them as they would if they played East.

It reminds me a lot of the Century/Hill game from 2 years ago. Blaine can score a lot but they also give up a few more than you'd like to see as well. A big question will be how Century's D and goaltending hold up to the Bengal speed, I think the 3 seniors are better defensively than the group from 2007 but give you less on offense, I'll take that trade. In goal I am not a big fan of sophomores and Century will really have to help him out, not giving up a couple of early goals will be key. Only Joe Faupel returns from the 2007 3rd place team so Century has a lot of inexperiance while Blaine was there last year, that's a big advantage to Blaine. Century plays well with the lead, getting a lead early will be key for them, for Blaine they need to get off to a good start and keep Century from gaining any confidence; put their skate on the Panthers and not let up. The longer it's tied or close the more advantage I think Blaine has.

My only prediction is that this, much like the Century/Hill game of 2007, will be the most entertaining of Thursday's games. I'll put the over/under on goals scored at 10.
