Pioneer Press All State Team is (as usual for the PP) way off base. Nothing against the girls listed. I'm sure they are all good hockey players. I just think there are other choices that would have beem better. Looks awful metro to me. Not looking at the honorable mention because those girls get that for being nominated. Although it is also an honor.

Oviously the coaches meke the coaches assoiation team. Who makes these selections? Do they actually watch games or is it based only on stats, record or if you're on a state tournament team?

I wonder if some of the selections will even make their all conference selections?

I know of 3 All-State Teams that are publisized. They are The Pioneer Press All-State Team, The AP All-State Team, and The MGHCA All-State Team. Does anyone know the detail of how each is put together? I would imagine the Pioneer Press has a staff that puts theirs together. Do they solicit candidates from Sports writers of other papers or where do they get their information? Same question for the AP All-State Team. Who exactly votes for the players? As for the MGHCA team does each coach vote for 6 d, 12 forwards, and 1 goalie or how does it work. Does every coach vote from every team? Do they only vote A/AA or do they just vote for the player regardless of Class? thanks if anyone has any info.

In the past both the Pioneer Press and the Star-Tribune would call a coach or two from each section. Generally coaches that won their section. The questions would be who would you nominate from whom you seen or played against. They might ask about a particular player on your team or team you competed against.
Conversation would last about 5-10 minutes.
