I have a feeling this topic is going to get a bit "hairy." In a perfect world people wouldn't point fingers but...gopherhockey21 wrote:Which High school hockey team do you think shows the best sportsmanship in the Minnesota?

As always a couple of kids can make a whole team look bad, or a single incident can do the same in the eyes of some.
Albert Lea is always a class act, of all the teams I see on a regular basis they are the top. Rarely do you see an Albret Lea kid get an unsportsmanlike penalty, they sit down and keep their mouths closed after getting a penalty, they're not overy demonstartive after scoring or giving up a goal, win or lose they go right to the handshake line, and they are a good team to watch during the National Anthem.

I heard the state of WI is going to ban any sort of negative chanting by fans directed toward the refs, fans or the game in general. Only positive.
On the surface this could be a positive thing, but there should be a place for (1) complaining about things done wrong and (2) playful taunting. Additionally, leaves room for sarcasm. Just my two cents.
In my opinion, you (the fans) can have fun directing comments toward players on the other team all you want. Once it is directed toward schools as a whole, other fans, other people, etc, that crosses the line. This is something many private schools do to public schools, public schools do to private schools, poor communities to not as poor, etc. Whoever starts it game by game is at fault, in my opinion.

taunting and trash-talking is part of the game. when your team is losing its not fun for the fans to cheer positively or vice versa. if you kicked out all the kids that "cross the line" then there would be no student sections at all. Its been part of the game for a long time and i hope it never changes

If you are talking about teams, I really don't know.
Fans, its gotta be Edina. They sit their and don't say anything. They suck and I would hate to be in high school, now. I guess never do anything can be mistaken for sportsmanship, but it is ridiculous how politically correct they are/ are forced to be.

Really I think directing chants at the other community is a lot better than at players, although I'm all for both. Players are on individual taking the brunt of the beating, while a whole community is a beating on a group.

Good one, EP kids saying "Daddy's Money". That's like the pot calling the kettle black.HockeyMN1 wrote:I know, it's kind of wierd.
