I am assuming you are a player for Mayo or attend Mayo which means you should have ben to the game but obviously was not at the Mayo-Century game because Century did not get lucky. They dominated that game in every aspect.
I am not a Century fan but I was at the game and a 7-3 score does not really mean they got lucky. Maybe you should have been at the game to see with your own eyes. And if you were, then you obviously do not know much about hockey!
Century also dominated the Lakeville game and are playing well as of late and would not be surprised to see them play a good game against Blaine as well. Not saying they will win but I do not think it will be a blowout like a lot of people think.
I did not notice this earlier, but century won the night before the mayo game in OT to Winona (3-2)! Anyone have any insight on how this game went? Did Winona play amazing or Century play bad? Any key players in this game?
century dominated the entire contest shots were like 48-13 and they scored a fluke goal to put it into OT there goalie had some key saves and a winhawk player missed the net completely on a breakaway which was sort of pathetic with only a min or so remaining.. but the entire game was played on half a sheet of ice basically...
I was at the Century Winona game and it was no fluke that winona put them into overtime. Century may have had 43 shots but they didn't dominate the game. Many of there shot were not from good scoring ares and one of there goals was a fluke. But the winona goalie did save his team a couple times as did centuries. did you even see the overtime forcing goal, the goalie couldn't see the shot, he was sniped. You have to give winona credit.

Haha, if the Blaine players have this kind of cockiness I'll enjoy watching them get dismantled by Century.
Century isn't a bad team in any way, and given that, they can upset teams when you don't come to play with their defensive prowess. Ask Duluth East?
Dismantled? You can't be serious....Duluth East would tell you what everyone else knows. Century is an average team at best. They beat a shorthanded East team, get over it. They would probably be the 5/6th best team in the NWSC. Defensive prowess? Really? Century gave up more than 3 goals 11 times this year while Blaine has done it twice. Think before you speak.
I think Blaine is the first team in this tournament so far to go threw there line up and not have one of the guys on there team say "Hi Mom" or to anyone else. Pretty impressive

Being polite to Century should not change the facts. Blaine will, and is totally dominating Century. Section 1AA is rarely a threat no matter who they send.

Gopher Blog--That is not true. Century would have been like a #3 or #4 seed in Section 1A this year and would not have even made it to state in 1A. They may have looked better than Hutchinson or Mahtomedi without Marshall but lets not get carried away. They looked awful against a better than average Blaine team.

You might be right from the big picture. My statement was more in terms of the actual performances I saw yesterday on the ice.
Well congrats to Blaine, they did control much of the game. Century has not played as well as I've seen them play this year but no excuses. Congrats Blaine.
Century did not play all that bad as many of you are saying, I realize they lost 5-0 but after the first period it really should have been 1-0, (just as I said before) Sellnow did not play well. Blaine did have some snipes, but really when it comes down to it, you're at STATE. You can't be getting scored on on a clean shot with no screen like Sellnow did, multiple times. Blaine did not impress me today, I thought their breakout was comparable to a Bantam B team, I think Eden will put an end to their title run tomorrow.

funny that you say that mr.hockey because the elite 8 tourney and select 17s this previous summer both won the select tournaments, which says that some of the best players come from 1AA.
i will agree with you there, but saying you want to get rid of a whole section, that's brutal! You have to agree with me, if you're a neutral fan, if you go to Blaine you will totally disagree, that century and blaine were very even throughout the first period. century gave up a weak goal at the end of the 1st and that kina opened it up for the B-E-N-G-A-L-S...heard a lot of that today, haha

Where do I begin....The first period started a little tight for both teams, I agree. However, Sellnow made 3 or 4 really nice saves later in the period that kept it from getting out of hand early. He continued to make some big saves in all three periods, it could have been much worse than 5-0. I can think of one odd man rush that Century had and everything else from them came from the outside. Very few quality scoring chances. It felt like we were watching Blaine play one of the bottom half NWSC teams and that isn't meant as disrespect but that's what it looked like.
P.S. It was awesome to see #11 get lit up after throwing a fit on the ice and embarrassing himself.
