People don't realize how good Russell is because all they see is Breck blowing people out with amazing team speed.

Russell is an absolute brick wall, and Breck is about 7 times better than Virginia. They've won 22 straight. Only three losses coming against very good teams.

Ben Hanowski will get chances, but he won't post ridiculous numbers like he did last night. Russell is a better goaltender than Virginia's, and Breck's team defense and speed will eliminate alot of chances.

I don't know how Sperl compares to Lourdes tender, since I haven't seen either team alot this year, but I think it's only a matter of time before the huge amount of quality scoring chances Breck will get start to end up in the net.
Agreed. Breck (team) in a 5-3 victory Big Ben.

Breck has to contain Hanowski. Little Falls has to try to stop Breck's first two lines. If Breck puts their third line on the ice as often as they did against Lourdes they will lose, they struggled every shift, and stand no chance against LF. I believe it's an all Freshman line and it showed.

Breck will win if they (a) shut down Ben, (b) if the top lines improve their passing meaning not be selfish, there was a too much holding onto the puck when you had a wide open player, teammates are there to play with not skate past and around, I saw them do this in sections as well, and (c) most important, they must stay out of the box, D took a couple of dumb penalties.

LF will win if they play strong D against Breck's top line and work Breck's very good goalie, but this will be matched by LF's Sperl. They have to get in Rehkamp's way. Hanowski must do what he's done all year: dominate. LF has coaching on their side.

These are two good teams who will put on a good show.

It's a great week for hockey.

Well I totally agree with your assessment after watching both games. I don't know about anyone else but to me there was quite a difference between the pace of each of the games. Maybe it was LF opponent I'm not sure. Either way if LF is to win this game they will need somebody else to contribute in the offensive zone!!!

Breck wins 3 - 1

little falls has average goal tending at best, mediocre defense and do not get enough production out of other players besides berglund and the first line forwards...this wont fly for semi's and the final round, look for LF to lose the last 2 games of their season. they need to generate more shots and give up less shots to poor teams if they want to run with the big dogs.

4-2 breck, maybe 5-2 with and empty netter.

Are you serious?? Sperl is a great goalie. Very quick and has good positioning.
I realize they didnt play a great schedule, but here are his numbers.
.931 save %
1.51 gaa
Those are not average numbers

then they flashed up his numbers wrong on TV las night, but i saw him against alex as well as other teams this year...gives up weak goals...he is average at best...he is probably the 4th best goaltender in this tourney.

But did you notice that the first line did not play much after the 4 min mark. That was a smart move, and great couch call. Ben could have had the record easily if Tony would have let him play, but he didn't and is giving the experience to the younger players, which I see at an advantage. LF will come out quick and hard, and this I think will be a problem in the first for Breck. If they play some good D and make this a close game it can come down to the 3rd, which will make a great game.

I say good luck to both teams, lets make this a class A to be remembered by.

Neither team is used to playing from behind. First goal is huge and if either team gets down by two it's over!

the best defense is a good offense. and LF certainly has that. their defense doesnt need to be great when you have the offense they have. i would love to see LF take it all the way this year. they've been so fun to watch the last few years.

the outcome of this game will depend on the play of Sperl, anyone who has seen Little Falls play knows he is the down fall of the team

Little Falls wins this one....but they'll have to do it with few teachers
in the crowd.
I am not sure how other districts handle this but there will be few LFCS
staff in attendance as the administration won't even let them take
a sick day to go to the game. There are 7 fan buses (14 chaperones) going and that is with over half the high schoolers already down there....
pathetic that they won't let their staff show their support.

Even though I picked Breck to win in the contest, I'm taking the Flyers. Should be a good one.

#4 Breck - 3
#1 Little Falls - 4

Not mad by any means, no reason to be, but there's a reason we don't call games until they're actually over.
You mean like when you had St. Thomas in the State Tournament as the #1 seed in December?

That's really unfortunate. I bet this wouldn't happen in Roseau! With half the students gone, I doubt anything educationally significant will be happening. The small towns need to support their teams!

If it hasn't become quite obvious yet, this is really Little Falls' game. They have the talent and fire to get it done. I am glad that they did prove my own worries about them going into the tourney wrong. The thing of it is, you don't have to stop Breck's top line if they never have a chance at the puck. This Little Falls team will take over control of the game quicker than you blink. All of a sudden they'll have two goals and you missed it because you ran to the pisser.
I just hope they don't choke on it at this point in the season...........

I'm confused? Are you saying your concerned about Little Falls choking on it in the pisser?

Mustangs have more depth, more team speed, bettter defense and a better goalie. If Hano scores less than a hattie its off to Mariucci for the Flyers....Again..And to make it worse, they don't even have very nice pissers over there! 5-3 Mustangs

I am saying LF has to stay outta the box, not that they will pisser themselves. Or even get handled like you said.

I remember a good majority of people saying similar things about a team LF played the other day.... who was that.....oh yeah Virginia.

GWG was hano's 2nd of the game. They didn't need him to get the other 3 to win that game and the Virginia depth, defense, and goalie were just as hyped as you're making Breck seem. Too bad they were all wrong there too....

There is only one freshman on Breck's third line. That third line did not make a lot happen, but I did not see them struggling; they held their own and they hit quite a bit, especially the freshman. Breck does need to stay out of the box; when they take unneccesary penalties is when they are at their worst. Rehkamp is mad fast; he and Fulton need to come up big for Breck to win.

Yes, yes that's exactly what I said....Finally someone understands.......

Yes I know, Virginia has more depth, better speed, better defense, better goalie, all Little Falls has is Ben. ...........oh damn.....what'd you say....
Little Falls is playing Breck??? seems to me this guy was talking about Virginia, but...oh yeah, Little Falls beat them....... :o

By the way genius, Little Falls most definitely WILL NOT be playing in Marriucci this year, nice try though...have you ever watched a state tournement game???
