Re: Edina versus Moorhead
You must have missed my post that I sent right after the one you replied to above. YES, I was at the Schwan Cup game between Edina and Moorhead, and YES, I'm willing to bet Edina is faster. Looking forward to the game on Thursday, all of this talk on here doesn't really matter, let's the the players show us who the "fastest" or better team is.SPUDNUT wrote:Hockey_High09 wrote:I'm sure Moorhead is quite fast, but I'm willing to bet that - at their top speed - Edina is faster.SPUDNUT wrote: Not sure if the Taters will (or can) take the body. Haven't been as physical as past teams. Have been relying pretty much on their speed this year. Might turn out to be a horse race & I dunno who is faster.
And why is that? Have you seen 'em both? What's your logic? I'd be willing to bet that if the dog hadn't stopped to take a dump, he woulda caught the rabbit.

All I disputed was that your game numbers didn't add up. The way it sounds, you didn't have the Fargo South score (2-2).
I hope Moorhead puts in a good showing. If Edina can't get past them they don't deserve to win state. No excuses. They've waited a long time for this group of kids to be seniors.
Thanx so much for the explanation of what state Fargo is in. Don't know if I could have ever disseminated that information, since I live almost 2 miles from it! You're so smart - did you figure that out all by yourself?

You live two miles from Fargo? Not sure why you'd be so confused about who Moorhead played and their record against Minnesota teams then.SPUDNUT wrote:Thanx so much for the explanation of what state Fargo is in. Best of luck to Moorhead. I think the HS and Junior Gold both play Edina in the state tournament. I'll be very surprised if M'head wins this game, but you and a few others posting here are certain they are a better team than they showed two months ago.

Its comments like these that end up embarrassing the person and the city in retrospect. I know your excited at the possibility of knocking off the #1 seed in front of many people, but please control your emotions before you make a mistake, I would hate to see you get embarrassed in an online forum with as much prestige as this, thank you.mhd_hockey wrote:MOORHEAD - 3 OT.![]()
EDINA- 2
This is it boys. This is our year. Yess, we all know Edina is a ranked number one, and it will be a tough defete. But i believe deep down that EVERYONE in the stadium is going to be taken back at the game we bring to the X on thursday. All of you are counting moorhead out right away because Edina has the impression on everyone that no matter who they play, they will slaughter. Not going to happen this time. This will be a close, intense game. And our student section will be BRINGINN THE HEAT. Marks is at his best game, and he's not going to let much go by him. All of you Edina fans, i'd be getting a little nervous. These boys have been working their asses off to get here. And they're sure as hell are not letting it go down the drain like we have in the past. This is it. BRING IT ON EDINA!

I just don't see a way the Spuds can win this game. The Spuds only managed 17 shots against the Rams in the Region final and the Rams are definately not Edina this year. The Spuds scored three of their championship goals on the power play against a Roseau box that did not pressure or move, allowing the SPuds to shoot at will. With solid goaltending and special teams, the Hornets should probably roll in this one. None of this is sour grapes, just my observation after watching two very average teams in the region final. With that said, the games are not played on message boards or decided by observation. Time will tell.
OH, NO - I gotta agree with a Sheep fan! What's the world coming to? Shame on me! But then, I said the same things you're saying right before the Warroad, Centennial and Jefferson games. Just hope the tourney is as exciting as watching the Rams & Taters (love Northern hockey - go Warriors).Green and White Fan wrote:I just don't see a way the Spuds can win this game. game preview
ONE GOAL, TWO CHOICES
If Moorhead goalie Logan Marks struggles in Thursday night's first-round Class AA game against Edina, Moorhead coach Dave Morinville might face a difficult decision.
Or maybe not. Morinville split starting assignments between Marks, a junior, and freshman Michael Bitzer. How many coaches would be willing to throw a freshman into the heat of a state tournament game?
Here's why Morinville might not hesitate to make such a move: Bitzer is 7-0 with a 1.98 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Marks is 8-9-3 (2.21 GAA, .909 save percentage).
Why wait? I think Edina would love the challenge of an undefeated goaltender.

Back in my day, we Spuds went up against highly ranked teams and you know what ....................... we lost. A .500 season was a good year. Times they are a changing in Moorhead and highly ranked teams are played day in and day out. I doubt the kids in the Spud locker room plan on staying in their and admiring the sweat stain from Bouchard's breezer's.
Those kids think they can win. That might make the difference. It might not. Regardless, I look forward to watching the boys have at it. In the day, I would have killed to have the Spud & Hornet names said in the same paragraph yet alone debated in this message board.
Leave it all out on the ice. Don't have any regrets. Hockey, where the players walk on water!!!!

Moorhead Edina
I have seen Moorhead play afew games this season, some good and some really bad. What Moorhead team is going to show up? The bad team who played TRF and Bemidji or the team who beat Roseau? Seems to me even at Moorheads best its going to be a rough road to knock off Edina, being from the north it would be great to see Moorhead win but useing my head instead of my heart I see Edina winning but 3. 6-3 Edina
When did knowing that an opponent is good become enough to beat them?mhd_hockey wrote:Sorry bud, but edina is not going to "win big." We're obviously not going to let edina get ahead by a lot. We know theyre good.. therefore we will be doing whatever it takes keep up and stay ahead. Just watch.
This will be a ridiculously close game.
You gonna try and tell me that Jefferson lost 5 - 0 because they didn't know Edina was good?
Come on....
Edina 4 rip.
