huh?
Not really. It's their dream too. Kids from Moorhead, Duluth, Grand Rapids, and Roseau all want to win a state title just as much as a kid from the Metro. They've played outstate teams since Squirts.salol44 wrote:It is very hard for the metro teams to believe that the northern teams can play hockey even if they play in a "weak" section.

Are you friggin' delusional? Edina has more state titles than any other community. This group went to state three years in a row and won hardware the past two.61ache wrote:Where'd all the Edina fans go? You know the...only beat Roseau by...17 shots...running time...
Yawn. Edina chokes one more year. Nothing to see here, move along...
Good, solid, physical game Spuds. Played a great game. Hope you guys go on a tear--section 8 in the house.
Easy to throw around the choke word. Moorhead played great. Implying Edina choked doesn't do them justice. With 7 minutes to go it sure was interesting.
Roseau blew this year, so I'm surprised anyone from there would be saying much. They absolutely were exposed in the semis last year and didn't even win a trophy.

And what kind of comment is that?
I'm not sure what team would prefer to play Edina over Moorhead. Moorhead is a team East has already beaten IN Moorhead 4-0. Assuming they win (seeing Cretin lose would be so nice) I'm sure they'd prefer to play a team they've not only already played, but one they've already beaten to get to the finals as apposed to one they haven't played and is the top seed.
I would consider that lucky. Not sure what you would call it.

O-townclown, I don't know how to specifically reply so I have to do it this way. All I am saying is that Edina overlooked Mhead. Yes I did it sarcastically but oh well. They looked at them as a non seeded team, meaning that "I can't wait to play at 7 on Saturday"
I will not argue with you about your Roseau comment because you know you are in a losing battle.

M'head
I dunno. Goaltender played very well. Seniors were 10th graders on a team that lost in quarters to Rapids. Lost three of four a month ago, many in similar fashion.salol44 wrote:O-townclown, I don't know how to specifically reply so I have to do it this way. All I am saying is that Edina overlooked Mhead. How come Edina 'looked past' Moorhead? Can't it just be that Moorhead 'beat' Edina?
Three games, three days. No other way to win it.

Re: game preview
Now they can enjoy the experience of playing at Marriucci !O-townClown wrote:ONE GOAL, TWO CHOICES
If Moorhead goalie Logan Marks struggles in Thursday night's first-round Class AA game against Edina, Moorhead coach Dave Morinville might face a difficult decision.
Or maybe not. Morinville split starting assignments between Marks, a junior, and freshman Michael Bitzer. How many coaches would be willing to throw a freshman into the heat of a state tournament game?
Here's why Morinville might not hesitate to make such a move: Bitzer is 7-0 with a 1.98 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Marks is 8-9-3 (2.21 GAA, .909 save percentage).
Why wait? I think Edina would love the challenge of an undefeated goaltender.
I do agree with you on this. Hopefully everybody from the "North" is cheering for the section 8 teams. Both are going to the semi's. Good luck to both teams. Bring a couple of Trophy's back. By the way, isn't asst coach Grafstrom from Salol? Originally???salol44 wrote: I dislike the spuds but I am glad they are represented section 8. Don't fool yourself, there's only one trophy that counts. For the last three years Edina fans have been blowing their trumpet, pumping their chests, and in the end it didn't even matter--unless you get joy out of stroking a consolation trophy. As far as being "exposed" in the semi's...well...I wouldn't start throwing stones tonight.O-townClown wrote:Are you friggin' delusional? Edina has more state titles than any other community. P.S. Roseau has the most championships. Wracked that up in 2007; you know when we won thee trophy...

Blah, blah, blah. Only one trophy that counts. Yes, true. That is what people remember. His post makes it sound like Edina sends ankle-skaters to state and they are chronically embarrassed. Hardly. Nine state titles, which is more than Roseau.
Funny thing about Roseau, and this came up over and over last season. The community has tons to be proud of but it still isn't enough.
Everybody that has seen Edina lose to Benilde, Hill, Hopkins, and everyone else knows they are beatable. I don't see how they were exposed tonight. This loss looked like all the rest. Moorhead followed the script and deserves monster credit for executing. Didn't look like the Edina kids rolled over to me.
