Lou Nanne Question

Post by HSH1212 »

Does Lou Nanne only do the AA games because sees no value in A? Not trying to be critical of him; just curious.

Probably. AA is 99% better (not to open that debate up again). Well, maybe not better, but lets just say one class is all that is needed.

Earlier today he said that he didn't see a lot of A hockey this winter, because he was told he would only do the AA during the tourney.

I'm happy he only does AA, that might be to much.

That's a free pass, run the gauntlet in a AA section if you want a crack at the title.

The chance of that happening is quite slim. They used to do that in the boys' basketball tournament when it first went to two classes. The winners played on Monday night. I do believe they stopped it so that there were no 'losers' after the Monday game.

I don't find him to be that much of a homer. He does his homework, adds some nice insight and is much better than the other choices.

He also offered the best quote of the tourney when talking about kids finishing their careers in HS:

"You don't see 25 year Junior reunions"

Lou Nanne is so connected and so informed within the hockey community. This tourney would not be the same without him. Great insight.

Lets acccept Class A for what it is. It has sprinkles of very good players, but not the depth of Class AA. There might be some top #1 lines that would be a good match up between the two classes. But the 2nd and 3rd lines would be a mismatch between A and AA levels.

That is why Class AA is on prime time. It is a step above A.

Lou is prime time.

Think about this..........

Little Falls, Breck, Warroad and St Cloud (maybe more) could certainly win games in the AA Tourney. Maybe they could even win the AA tourney!

Breck beat Duluth East and Cretin DH in regular season. Warroad lost by a goal to Moorhead and also beat Roseau. St. Thomas did not even make the A tourney this year. They beat AA Cretin DH, Hill Murray and Moorhead this season.

Warroad, Breck and St. Cloud are ranked (MY Hockey) higher that two(2) semi final teams in the AA Tourney (Moorhead and Cretin DH). In addition, they are ranked higher than four(4) teams which are participating in the AA Tournament this year.

So who will the real state champion be this year????

The team that actually wins the AA state tourney. Not any team that might have could have possibly maybe won a game or two. You want a real state championship, play for it.

If the powers at be wanted to make the tournament interesting and all-inclusive, they could throw all 16 teams in one big tourney and seed the top eight. Then you would have the possibility of a "Cinderella" team winning the whole thing. But it probably would be "politically incorrect" to only have one winner.

Again...Why argue? It is pointless and a arguement that has NO merit.

Opt up to AA. End of Story.
Solution: Follow Roseau's lead.

Yeah why argue?

Its been proven before that the AA champ isnt always going to be the best team in this state. Roseau a tiny school by AA numbers has won it twice in the last 12 years. Depth is a factor to a point, however talent come over come depth and There have been plenty of years you could take a A team and they could run the AA tourney. Its always said opt up and prove your the best well over the season all the top A schools do play alot of top AA schools and do very well against them
