IF Eden Prairie, Wayzata and Andover are that good, why are they not going to Grand Rapids? :? :?:

U10Father wrote:If all the above is true, and how would you know, based on the Minnesota Hockey site (which is ridiculously behind), then let's predict the winner.

Anoka/Highland - two fairly even teams, Anoka has some trouble scoring, so edge to Highland

Roseau/Lakeville - No offense or anything, but the two teams from the north have no shot in Grand Rapids unless they spike the water. Roseau beat up a bunch of northern teams up, but when you look at the scores against the metro, they only beat the mediocre teams. Lakeville by 5.

Cottage Grove/Burnsville - Played already, Burnsville won. CG doesn't give up a lot of goals, but guess who scored the most against them all season? Burnsville. Blaze might be dinged up, but I'll take them to edge CG.

Thief River Falls/Evil Empire - Edina, in Running Time. Edina WHITE could beat TRF.

2nd Round: Highland/Lakeville - Again, they already played, Lakeville beat 'em. This might be closer, but Lakeville should win.

Edina/Burnsville - Why should things change now? Edina beats Burnsville, they have all year. Nice draw at State for the Empire, they should waltz to the finals. Did they purposely put themselves in that 3rd seed?

Finals: Lakeville/Cakeeaters - I'd like to say Lakeville will win, they won at Edina's tournament. But Lakeville will have two (slightly) tougher games to get there, so as much as it pains me, I think the Hornets will win.

It's a shame that Eden Prairie, Wayzata and Andover aren't there and those two teams from the North are, but that's just the way the system works.

 when I look at all my info,, The two teams from the north will win 4 games between the two of them. The real shame is that you are looking at old scores and you give the north no credit. I know they will out class any team out there and may even beatup some of your metro teams. You should stay in the 10U area like your name says.

FINAL THOUGHTS: My first taste of 12A regional hockey couldn't have been sweeter. After decades of participation in this sport, I was rejuvenated by the display of passsion and sportmanship displayed by all the teams over the weekend in Stillwater. I saw the passion of a Wayzata team that displayed excellence all year and played the game with discipline and skill....we were part of the sportmanship offered by an Edina team that has been been nothing but gracious competitors all year long, from the coaches to the players to the fans. (This is no small feat when EP & Edina Meet).

And Finally, I have not seen a team more committed to playing for each other as the Eden Prairie girls. Its given me new energy for the game...I can't remember the last time I witnessed a true display of sadness that a season finished too early. that they had more to achieve and experience as a team.

To all the teams we were luck enough to compete against this year...thanks for some great hockey moments.

...and a return tip of the hat to Pens4, whose teams have been completely classy for the last two seasons when my daughter played them. Chris, as further proof as to what a good group of girls you have, they went out of their way to cheer her up after she got hurt this year. When your "hated rival" is as cool as that, it speaks volumes about their coach. EP is lucky to be so well represented - coaches, players, and fans.

It's great to be good players, better to be good people.

I couldnt agree more, the EP 12A coach is a great guy. Over the years I have seen him demonstrate great character and integrity. More of that is needed in hockey. Keep it up coach! :D

Sorry to hear your season is over! Good luck in the future!

Thanks to all...But back on task for the remaining Elite 8. I can't believe how many of the U12's from around the state I saw at the Tourney yesterday. This weekend will be a great warm-up for the real show in Grand Rapids. :D

Because it's too far to drive? LOL

Double OT loss to their nemeses in Anoka kept the Huskies away. I'm gonna go with either Anoka or Lakeville to win it all. From what I've read here, though, it sounds like Highland is peaking at the right time. This thing is probably pretty wide open. It's gonna come down to coaching and on-ice discipline - and a lucky break here and there.

My predictions for this weekend.

1st round
Anoka over Highland
Lakeville over Roseau
Burnsville over CG
Edina over TRF

2nd Round
Anoka over Lakeville
Burnsville over Edina

Final
Anoka over Burnsville

Anoka can be very stingy with goals against when they want to and I think they will want to this weekend.

OK, I'll play too

Highland over Anoka - I think most people havent given Highland enough credit. This probably won't be a high scoring game
Lakeville over Roseau
Burnsville over Cottage Grove
Edina over TRF

2nd Round
Lakeville over Highland in a very good game, but it really could go either way
Edina over Burnsville

Final
Edina over Lakeville, avenging the earlier season loss. Those Edina kids are very talented and well-coached. Go Green! The rest of the U12s and parents are behind you all the way!

Sam Behr is back playing with Burnsville. :D Her knee injury ended up not being as bad as it could of. This should help Burnsville against Cottage Grove.

I am proud of all the girls. Every team worked their tail off to get to State. Good Luck To All!!!!

Lakeville 7
Roseau 1

Lakeville scored three goals in about five minutes and then coasted.

...and Roseau was supposed to be the best team from the North. Why they need to force two lesser teams into the State Tournament mix is bizarre to me. You can't tell me that Eden Prairie or Wayzata weren't more qualifed to be at State.

Lakeville has an extremely strong team and they could roll over a lot of the metro teams as well. Everyone would like the best teams to advance to the state tourney but nothing is better in sports than when different regions come together.

Teams like Wayzata and EP had their chance to advance. To win a championship at any level is never easy and never fair. Thats why its so special. Roseau belongs there just like all the other teams...there can be no arguement on that.

I'll stick with the assertion that playing one of those Northern teams is like getting a Bye. Lakeville and Edina probably didn't break a sweat.

U10father I suppose you think Lakeville should be in the 14u state tournament also. I see they were eliminated by a very strong team from Owatonna.

10u father, please don't even start on who should be here and who shouldn't!!!! Do you follow HS girls hockey or not????????? Roseau belongs here at the 12u state just as much as any other of the 6 that made it to the girls hs tourney!! GET USED TO IT. Sometimes, the BEST TEAMS don't make it to the big show, but the ones that are there deserve it just as much. enough said! State is not always the ToP teams in state, but it is always the best representation from AROUND the state. You should learn this now, while your daughter is in 10u. This is how it will be for the next 8 years...at least!!

They belong here because they won thier section. If your not good enough to win your section (no matter how hard it is) you don't belong. It is a basic part of sports at every level from U12 to the NHL.

But this is 12 and 13 year old girls and you have to post negative things about these teams that them just enjoy state.

U10..I think your a Tonka dad, take a look at our HS section, Tonka, MG, Hopkins, Wayzata, North Metro, BSM... It will never be easy for our daughters to get to state but we will have many years of great section battles to enjoy.

Anoka 2
Lakeville 1

Edina Green 3
Burnsville 1

Two good games - should make for an exciting championship tomorrow

They've played twice - split the games, and the last one went to shootout

so if roseau and thief river falls did not belong there then i am guessing highland and cottage groove both did not belong also. Since they had to play in overtime today, with highland winning and cottsge grove losing. and i guess it was luck that anoka won today too?
goodluck Anoka and Edina.

Congrats to the players and coaches of the Edina Green team!

5-0 against a very tough Anoka team.

All the hard work paid off. Add a banner to Braemar!
