Dan Teerhar and Mike Greenlay or Clay Matvick and Phil H
Why aren't Dan Teerhar and Mike Greenlay doing the high school games? Don't they do the games for the Wild on 45? They are a lot better than the two that are doing it now. Personally I think Teerhar and Greenlay are the best announcers for hockey in Minnesota. And this is a premier event in Minnesota. Why aren't they doing it?
wild= Stanley Cup 09' champions

Teerhar is alright, but Greenlay just sucks. FSN needs to get rid of him as well. Same with Telly Hughes...my god.gopherhockey21 wrote:Why aren't Dan Teerhar and Mike Greenlay doing the high school games? Don't they do the games for the Wild on 45? Only good announcers that FSN has is Dick Bremer and Bert Blyleven.gopherhockey21 wrote:Why aren't Dan Teerhar and Mike Greenlay doing the high school games? Just because Housley played doesn't mean he is knowledgeable about it. He may have had talent, but lets not sit & take in everything this clown says as factual.Jbone wrote:I really like Clay Matvick. He is for fricken ESPN. The guy is good and has a good voice. Housleyl just adds hockey knowledge, but he isn't very good at it. I want to hear something I wasn't thinking of!!
Housley is the best color analyst on TV in this area.... his knowledge of the game far exceeds anyone on the air in MN... best hockey mind in the businessPioneerprideguy wrote:Just because Housley played doesn't mean he is knowledgeable about it. The best around? I am guessing he is the Phil guy because they need some sort of guarantee that the coach/color analyst will be available to work the tourney.....hahahaha
Honestly? for those of you that may be too young to remember the job that the local stations did prior to 45 it was FAR superior to this crap.
Repeating segments ( that are not good anyway), camera shots, poor announcers (all but Louie and Clay).
One moment I will never forget is when they gave Lou a jersey with his name and the number 45 on the back in honor of his years of service. Lou grabs it and looks to see what logo is on the front only to find the front BLANK! Real classy 45. It was a slap in the face not an honor. It looked like the grabbed the jersey from the K1 booth at the expo and slapped his name on it.
Everything they did was low budget.
Ask yourself this, you are an advertiser spent huge dough, part of your ad package includes period commercials. Is there really any value when you know no one is waiting around to see the canned bits they replayed over and over and over?
Terrible coverage overall.....Oh one more thing, how about the clown that was on ice for the Herb Brooks award? reading every single word of the presentation, I am positive there is a high school student (or many) that could do far better. The clown has a year to memorize the 10 sentences.

That was hilarious! I felt embarassed for Lou. It was like 45 thought of doing something for Lou at the last second and the jersey was all they could come up with.One moment I will never forget is when they gave Lou a jersey with his name and the number 45 on the back in honor of his years of service. I watched the entire tournament and it did get old watching the same segments over and over. What happened to the days when they would do a 5 minute segment on each school? Those were always fun to watch.

Greenlay is ungodly awful. I actually hate him to be honest, and his buddy gorg isnt much better. They make watching the wild lose 100 times worse. Clay Matvick is awesome! guy has a awesome voice and he never really stumbles or stutters like most of the other guys that did the state tournament, it seems like he knows hockey. And for Telly, I think the first hockey game he ever saw was the first hockey game he was assigned to.

I agree, the announcing for high school games is terrible, it practically takes away the enjoyment from watching the game. My favorite hockey announcers would have to be Doug Woog and Frank Mazzocco for the Gophers, Wooger always has some insightful and funny comment to make. I also liked back in the day when Gary Thorne would do NHL games for ESPN.

That's what I like about him though, he always says something really funny that makes you wonder what the hell he's thinking. Probably my favorite line ever from him was last season during the Mankato-Minnesota playoff series when he said "Everybody in the building is standing except for people in wheelchairs. Everybody is up." Another great one is when he said "The puck is really jumping around tonight…they must have gotten it from Mexico."fivehole628 wrote:Woog is also terribleRoseauverrated wrote:I agree, the announcing for high school games is terrible, it practically takes away the enjoyment from watching the game. Not to mention he's like the John Madden of FSN, makes everyone feel smart... Great guy though, gotta give him that.

Another fan of these two, they work very well together and keep it entertaining. My only complaint is not the announcing, it's the picture quality. Hopefully they'll do the games in HD in the not too distant future.Roseauverrated wrote:My favorite hockey announcers would have to be Doug Woog and Frank Mazzocco for the Gophers, Wooger always has some insightful and funny comment to make.
