EP Sophmores

Post by D6Rocks »

I am not an EP Lover.
But I find it quite amazing that if EP wins this year, Rau and Co. will have 4 state Championships in a row.
2006 Peewee A
2007 + 2008 Bantam A
2009 High School.

I think Edina may have the same kind of deal going on in early 70's but I can't think of another group that has done it.

Now if Blaine comes out tonight and beats them up, this is stupid, but...????

I doubt if it's that significant. If Wayzata wins Bantam A's this yr...and it looks like they will...that will go w/ their Pee Wee A title 2yrs ago. So if they win state anytime in the next 3yrs they will match EP...and that's right now..it must have been down in the past. How about Jefferson??

That is good research and very impressive if that happens.

Wont be in a row unless they win next year.

What's more impressive is that this year's team has 10 sophomores. EP is going to be awfullyh tough the next two years. Not that impressed with this year's bunch of Bantam kids, but the HS squad will make a pretty god run at the elusive undrefeated season, IMO.

These kids had a very impressive run through the youth program. If those sophmores decide to stay through their senior year they could be in the history books.....there are a lot of if's....though.

It's impressive yet..this is not the sophomore's yr..it's the 12 grader's..this is there team..the best analysis would be when the in 2 yrs when they are in 12th. If they win it that yr...then THEY took pee wee, bantam, and high school.

Just remeber the HYPE that surrounded Edina for the past 3 years, same situation rolled through the youth ranks, all stayed at Edina, Lee going back to finish. Then look at the outside distractions, Buddishs knee, Jr teams, College scouts. A lot can happen in the next few years, but GOOD LUCK TO THEM TONIGHT and IN THE FUTURE.

Centennial always seems to have better Bantam teams than Blaine, and look what has happened to them the last 4 years. Leddy was the key to this years championship.

Just looked and Centennial has been in 6 of the last 8 MN State Bantam A title games -wow! - They must be getting a little frustrated at the HS level.

I agree with Hoops. EP's success was all "Mr Hockey" and a few of his sidekick forward Senior buddy's complemented by a few sophomores who made solid contributions. EP won by allowing the fewest goals scored against. Not taking it away from the few sophomores who made contributions like Ford and Rau but the stats and the scouts all say the same thing...Leddy.... and he is now moving on. It's anyone's tourney next year.

A little off topic but Dano Jacques who graduated from DM last year had made it to the state tournament either 7 or 8 ( can't remember exactly) years in a row.. Anyone else know of any kids who have had a run like that?

Making it seven years in a row would mean he made it as a sixth grader.

Edina was a scary team, that no one wanted to play. But they got upset

Don't get too excited boys. There have been many talented teams that have tripped up along the way. High school is unlike MAHA. It's one and done in the big leagues.

I can think of another group...the jefferson class (1992, 1993, 1994) .. won the pewee A state championship, bantam A state championship, and back to back to back high school state championships. i think they were better than eden prarie and edinas superb sophmore classes.

That Jefferson group had several great players that went on to D1 and some pro hockey.
