08' Hill-Murray Pioneers or 09' Eden Prairie
Who would win between these two great teams. Personally I have to go with my Pioneers on this one. Furne would nipe all day on Ford and Flip would shut down Leddy and co. State 08

From the semi-finals on I'd have to give the edge to Hill and because they only gave up two goals the entire tourney. However, EP had a little bit of a tougher schedule from the get-go. I definitely agree that Flip had the better tourney. Advantage also to Hill in terms of coaching brains. That methodical sort of win hadn't been accomplished since Centennial. Leddy would shut down Hill's offense though. Toss up really.
I can splash in the rink puddles!

Obviously it's only one game so who knows but I would take last years Hill squad without a doubt. No disrespect to EP but Hill took it to some great teams last year during their run and they just about knocked off EP this year minus 4 top players. Hill's performance last year in the tourney impressed me much more than EP's this year.
Some would call 4 in a row a dynasty

Plus, they had Dan Sova.... who can argue with a player like thatBIGSEXY wrote:Obviously it's only one game so who knows but I would take last years Hill squad without a doubt. well last years Hill team is 3 goals better than this years Hill team..
this years hill team was basically Eden Pr at State.
this is an easy one. hill much the best....the state was down for some reason this year in top teams and overall excellence from top teams...might have been deeper overall however, so Im not saying the kids are not as good...just not strong at the top like last years amazing final 4.

Correct ...very easy one. H-M. H-M played as good as a high school team can play last yr.hockeyhockeyhockey wrote:well last years Hill team is 3 goals better than this years Hill team..

Eden Prairie.......'cuz they are the '09 team, and to an '08 team, they would be "from the future" and thus able to foresee everything that HM would do. Duh!!

I can't argue with the way he shut down Aaron Ness/Tyler Landman and the "Fab 5" sophomores on back to back nights...pondpucker13 wrote:Plus, they had Dan Sova.... who can argue with a player like thatBIGSEXY wrote:Obviously it's only one game so who knows but I would take last years Hill squad without a doubt. Sorry, I think the EP team, if everyone stays will be back to back champs. I don't care what Hill throws at them. A seasoned 1st and 2nd line will dominate the Lake in points and a third line with some big game experiance should lead this team to a #1 team in the state and #1 seed in the State Tournament. Sorry, there is too much depth here and kids that can actually finish. If you think they are weak at defence, they will totally outscore any team.Gr8 wrote:I would take Hill. Forwards that could challenge the Ep defense and Defense that could stop the Ep forwards. Hill runs deeper and although they had no Leddy if Phillipi played the way he did last years state tourney they would win without a doubt.

I would have taken the 09 Pioneers with the 4 players that eh'hem made a mistake in life.
Hill was headed for a 2nd State championship in a row with these kids, and still kept their dog in the fight without them.
Otherwise, the 09 EP team had a special year led by the best player in the state on the blue line and a bunch of young guns. Maybe EP will run off 2 more in a row. With Zepeda gone from Hill, who's picking up the scoring???? I would be inclined to say that if a Tartan, Stillwater or Roseville want to go to the X, it's in 2010.

If you actually believe this, you should be kicked out of this forum.HockeyMN1 wrote:Agreed.starmvp wrote:EP would win by four
Hill let up two goals the whole tournament in 08. Not to mention they shut out Edina, the only team to do so that year. If they can shutout Budish, Lee and Everson on a line, no disrespect to but I'm sure they could shut down Rau, Rogge and Wolfe. And while Leddy is probably better, the 08 Pioneers also were up against Joe Gleason and had no problems scoring goals.
So my point is, you can speculate all you want on how EP would beat Hill or vice versa [like i think], but don't say something as ignorant as picking a four goal win by EP. Or better yet, justify it! It's amazing how much more seriously people will take you.
Stay Classy, Minnesota.

Re: 09
Sorry, EP also lost one varsity returner and their all conference goalie to poor decisions. EP also, lost starters in Rush and Thompson to the USHL and Clark to Stattuck. If these players were on this year team, EP would have cleaned up the Lake and probably beat Edina at least one time. Sorry, just stay clean through your high school years. In the past, issues were handled internally, but now there more attention to issues, as it should be. EP had some of the same issues as Hill. Teams need to move on for the poor decisions made by these players and their parents. EP had the right mix of senior leadership, a junior group that played a major role and a great group of sophmores that got it done. Depth was the difference here.Tenoverpar wrote:I would have taken the 09 Pioneers with the 4 players that eh'hem made a mistake in life.
