Russia doesn`t encourage players to leave for the NHL let alone the Minnesota High School league. Might have been more believable if you had picked another country.
Got a good response though!
a great april fools joke no doubt, only one exchange student allowed on a team, howie needs to get a life, period.

Someone called into WEBC about this and the radio guy tore into it right then and there and called it out, it was actually pretty funny. He mentioned the penalty minutes, the fact that there is no Canadien Scouting, it's CENTRAL Scouting for all of North America and there is no whatever abbreviation he used for the Russian League. He said it was probably an April Fools Joke that would get exposed before April 1st.
Good try though

Is this the type of crap Howie Hanson has to do to get people to look at his GARBAGE. It is too bad because Duluth needs a voice to promote their kids and programs and again this certainly shows that Howie has little to no integrity. I bet Denfeld and their "favorite sons" are really happy about how howie has represented them in this topic and the way he has destroyed any publicity he gave them throughout the year. The guy should be banned from writing about minors the way he oeprates

Maybe Howie actually thought the story was true, and once he realized what a gullible person he really was, he yanked the story out of embarrassment?karl(east) wrote:Funny, the link to the article is dead now.
And I can't seem to find the original post anywhere on Howie's blog.
Hmm.
Here's another story of Howie's "slant" on things; there's a story on his blog (I'll find the link later) which refers to "Denfeld dominates the all-region boys hockey team". How did they dominate this team? By having one person on the first team, one on the second team and one person on the third team. Note: Virginia also did this. I'm trying to figure out how having three of the top eighteen players is a domination. Maybe it is in Howie's narrow "west of Piedmont Avenue" world.
As I said in another thread, Howie is a journalistic hack. I'd trust a fledgling journalism student at Ordean middle school first.
