tnt, agree it's a strange process of selecting players but if you took the top line of Mayo, Lourdes(both worthy) then you have basically 3 other forward spots left to fill from 1A/1AA. Coaches pick the teams and and was done prior to the state tourney. I'm sure they are trying to get representation from across the section so that's where some players are left behind. Section 1a/1aa should be a top contender though from what I see of other sections.
It is well attended but some games can be a bit haphazard given not all these kids have played together. Good luck section 1a/1aa show'em how it's done. Schammel,Adams, Voigt, Lapic and the other forwards will bring some good horse power and D should be very solid!!

Big 9 all-conference is based on a vote of the coaches. The coaches probably have a good idea of the opposing team's schedule strength and also which opposing players were a threat to their team whether that is a scoring threat, a stone walling goalie or a D-man you just can't beat. Not everything is going to be based on stats. If every scholarship or other selection was due to stats, nobody would need scouts and would only use the internet.
The head coaches from the AA and A section vote on the players to get into the great 8. There is no tryout it is voted on based on the season performance.

Any forward that would actually back check. It looked like pond hockey out there. Unless someone had the puck on their stick, there wasn't a whole lot of effort from most of the kids.

I thought the championship game was an entertaining and very high paced game. Certainly more open then a playoff game but I though both teams in the championship game made some great plays to create opportunities. Moberg the goalie from Forest lake gave 7A-AA the chance to win he was outstanding all weekend.

I thought the great 8 was pretty good this year. I will say that I didn't notice as many scouts there as last year but the quality was still there. Toronto Maple Leafs, Ohio State, USHL central scouting, a few NAHL teams, a few MNJHL teams were the ones I saw the most.

As for players, Dan Delisle absolutely tore it up. There was lots of speed at this tournament too.

Great 8. what a shame when the Section 6a an 6aa was domimated by Section 6A skaters. Where are the seniors of Section 6AA? Section 8 and 7 had a good turn out of AA players. Section 1 A and AA had a great team, but please, play a metro schedule.

Huh? According to this, he averaged a point a game - which is tied for 21st.

Maybe most of the top seniors are from class A in section 6?

I know one of the teams in the Chip. game, I think it was 2A/AA was mostly class A players. They lost a close game late, (OT) but seemed to be the better team with more scoring chances, fun and fast paced game from both teams!

I watched his game on saturday and every time the kid got the puck on his stick there was a scoring chance. Just because he didn't have 10 points doesn't mean he wasn't the best player on the ice.

Please there were more 1-A players on this team the 2-A players most of this team was made of 1A players. A Benson-Morris player and some St.Clould players. There was no 6AA players here.

Most known, all of the college scouts were off this weekend. The great eight is a joke. They need to run this tournament when ALL scouts are on and not the D-3 schools.

If the kids playing in this haven't gotten D1 looks or interest before this maybe D3 schools are all they have left??

Most colleges were at the Great 8 including the Gophers, Wisconsin, Duluth, Sioux, Denver, CC, Air Force, St. Cloud, Providence, Holy Cross, Colgate, and others. I think the tournament that was a joke from a recruiting perspective was the Xposure as they did that on the Frozen Four weekend which no D1 schools could attend due to the quiet period.

It's great that those kids got that kind of attention. Some kids mature later physically and as players. If those kids have the desire, I hope they stick with it, play Jr. Get a deal or not, they can look back with no regrets. Good luck to the players.
