Best Offseason Program?

Post by Papa Bergundy »

I've looked and/or tried a lot of offseason training programs. Among the notable ones are FHIT, Impact, Acceleration and so on. Which offseason training program have you found the most beneficiary? Please avoid bashing a program when possible, but if you found a "problem" with it feel free to state it.
Stay Classy, Minnesota.

judgeing by the staff, their resumes, alumni and current participants, and the sheet of ice that they have, I would think Velocity in E.P. is a strong consideration.

Off Season Training

Post by Tigers95 »

Save your money. The best off season training is to lift weights, shoot pucks and stick handle in your driveway. In my experience any league, camp or training program is only geared toward one thing- making money for however runs it.

Impact is very good, yet great players are not determined by what camps or programs they participate in, its the work they do when no one is watching.

I agree 99%. These training programs offer the most technilogically advanced programs that a person can find. I'm sure that they do help to improve a players skills but parents are the one's driving kids towards these kinds of things. I don't think it is worth it. There is no replacement for simply playing the game and working on the basics......skating, passing, stickhandling and shooting.

Or it might have something to do with major shifts in demographics...

I really liked fhit with the aspect that your on the ice almost every day, and there is a great atmosphere. But my favorite is Acceleration. Though your not on the ice, It is another place with a great atmosphere, and a staff that wants to be there. But no matter what you choose. You have to be willing to work. If your not going to be putting in the work, don't bother and save your money. Your not going to get better at any of these camps by just showing up.

I have been very impressed with the Exceed Hockey program out of Prior Lake and Explosive Edge Athletics in Eden Prairie.

The one on one attention you receive is very beneficial. Dave Perri is a very excitable and knowledgable trainer. His falicities are good, not the greatest but good. His concentration om skills and the development of work ethic and the intensity of the training is top notch. To learn more about it go to http://buildyourgame.com/
