Sacred Heart Hockey Looking at Minnesota

Post by joehockey »

I understand Sacred Heart is wanting to recruit more MN girls and build their hockey program. If you are a good student and want to continue hockey at a good school might want to look at their website. I think they will be at Junior Festival and looking at Minnesota this summer and fall. There are two current MN girls on the roster. Nagel was a very good HS goalie at BSM.

D III and good schools

Post by hockeymaven »

Joe : Appreciate all you do on this board but I disagree with your observation.

As compared to Sacred Heart any number of DIII schools out east are much better academically--e.g all of the NESCAC schools a number of whom also have a hockey program that is as good as or better than Sacred Heart, e.g. Amherst, Middlebury and Trinity. All of whom by the way have one or more MN kids on their roster as do a number of the other NESCAC schools.

Bottom line, if you want a good education and hockey at DIII and a new experience outside MN or WI then contact those NESCAC schools that are of interest to you (Williams by way of example whose hockey program is on the rise is one of the very best liberal arts schools in the country- including as compared to the Ivies).

HM you have studied and know the east better than I - we haven't gotten to decision time yet.

Sacred Heart is a D1 program though still new to that level and at present bottom third of all D1 programs. I am just highlighting the school as an option and sounds like they are going to be in MN looking for players. Every kid/family needs to do thier homework like you have. This might be an option for some.

Hopefully I try not to sell anything on this board just share options and observations.
