Congrats to the team for going undefeated in Chicago and outlasting a very good Michigan team 3-2 in overtime in the final.
Hopefully, the boys on this team who wish to continue playing hockey get an opportunity to do so.
This tournament has evidently become more difficult to win as of late. This is the first time since 2005 that Minnesota has won and only the second time since 2002. Between 1997 and 2002, Brill and Hendrickson coached Minnesota to six straight titles.

Taylor Wolfe was replaced by Trevor Ness from Wadena who scored a couple of big goas in the tournament. Minnesota played pretty well, their goaltending and defense was outstanding. Casey O'Conner from Bloomington Jefferson and Paul Moberg from Forest Lake were both outstanding giving up 6 goals in 6 games. Minnesotas defense played well consistently transitioning the puck up and out of the zone.

Seems as though colleges overlook, or don't look at good players on the small side or from poorer teams or late bloomers. You would think they would want the late bloomers who are from poor teams who may be undersized, you would think they would have the most up-side, they have had the most adversity and persevered the most!

team minnesota wins chicago showcase
Summer,
I like to consider those from a small school... have what it takes to play D1 just as those that play from bigger schools...proving it via Elites/ 8's/ and even the Showcase...whatever route they go that is competitve hockey... they are the diamonds in the rough that are waiting to be found. I give the diamonds in the rough huge marks for staying with their home teams and not jumping ship. That to shows loyalty!
There were a couple boys from smaller schools that made the showcase, and I think that tells much about them as player, they can play with the best, even playing from a small school, either you have it or you don't. They may just may have to take a different path that takes a bit longer. But because some kids do not walk away with a D1 out of HS, does not mean they won't in a year or two. NAHL...more D1's are coming out of that league now to, maybe not as much as USHL, but with the nice selection of players out MN, I think the NAHL will be picking up more of dimonds in the rough that the USHL overlooks or does not have the room for.
Team MN at the showcase- a player from NJ asked a couple of the MN boys how long they had played together, their reply, 2 practices and a game, reply from NJ player- we have practiced one year and you guys can play hockey...your good! MN PRIDE THERE!
