Out of curiosity I called and got the sales pitch for this league, but I was wondering if any out here have any knowledge of this program.

I also wonder what effect this league will have on association hockey.
It may cause association hockey to take a look at their current program and see if they should make any changes or additions.

The choice mite league is a nice alternative. And it is possible to do both Choice and your local association at the mite level. You may see your child get a little bored of going to Choice at times. If so I recommend to skip a day here and there.

Does a basketball player get better playing video games?
Does a cheerleader get better curling her hair?

So how does that assist in a few of the 100 kids from getting bored at some point? Many of them will, and parents may have to make a decision when their YOUNG athlete wants to stay home. Allow a kid to skip a day here and there, or not?

does your child ever get bored with there homework? at the age of 7-8-9 kids do not know whats important, and you need to give them direction.

Does anyone have first hand experience with this league? I'm looking for someone who has actually had a child in this program that can tell me a little about it.

inthenet or headinthesand> First rodeo? "kids do not know whats important" It appears that the poster asked for some info on the program. Some suggested it is good, but perhaps your young child will get bored with it. Be prepared to give them a day off.

Your response seems to call for "jr i don't care if you dont want to go, you dont know what is important , i do" "your 7. You need 6 hrs a week of mite practice, you only have 3 more years of mite eligibility then it is time to take it serious"

I had a son in the program 2 winters ago. I am not a MM guy but I thought the program was excellent. The repitition took most kids some getting use to but after 1 month it wasnt a thought. Quality repition is the key in school or any sport for that matter. The Saturday games were played at a high level too. You won't be disappointed in the Mite Choice program.

Another question for those of you familar with the Choice Mite League. I understand that there are two Mite leagues- A Maroon and a Gold League. The brochure states that these leagues are separated by the date of births of the players. One league is for kids born between 7/1/00-6/30/01 with one year of Mite eligibility. The second is for kids born between 7/1/01-6/30/02 with two years of mite eligibility.

I have some aquaintances that participated in the League last year. It appeared to me that they did not stick strictly to the date of births for each of the leagues. It seemed that some younger kids were playing in the GOLD and older were playing on the MAROON.

My question is this, How are these kids separated and placed on teams? Does some sort of evaluation process occur? Also, Does MM let every player that signs up participate in one of the leagues?

mite or squirt choice

They have evaluations for every age group, and IF a younger child has the ability to skate with an older age group, they will move him up.

In the past there has been a few that did not make a team. After tryouts are done all the coaches will have a draft. This way the teams are very well balanced, they have had to make some small adjustments in the past.

Hockeydad I saw Bernie this weekend and he said your little guy is a given for the Maroon team! Sign him up - you're good to go. Fall hockey will be here before you know it - it's June already!

You did attend the tryouts for all the top AAA clubs for the summer league didn't you? You would not want Junior to fall behind - he'll be 5 soon. Only one more year before you really need to step it up! If the Machine team is full, there might be room on the duece or any of the other 5 teams they now offer at MM. You can get to know all the parents during the highly competitive summer season so you'll hit the ground running this fall! 8) Good luck!!

Wow - What has gone so horribly wrong with your life that you have to act this way? You have given pathetic losers the world over a whole new low to shoot for. I hope that whatever is troubling you is resolved soon, so you can make peace with yourself and move on with your life. Good luck! :D

I just don't understand why hockeydad has to continually get on here and ask the same questions over and over. Have your kid play the Mite Choice League at MM. Your association sounds like every other small association and I'm sure the board volunteers are doing as good a job as they can yet you continually start new threads on the same topics trashing your association and looking for support to move your kid to MM.

You've gotten feedback that people that have participated in the Mite Choice league liked it - sign up Junior and move on. I for one am tired of reading all your silly posts. Once you've actually experienced more than first year Mites, than come back on here and maybe you can actually add something to a meaningful hockey discussion.

This thread was done until you decided to revive it with your well thought out and meaningful post.

I'm sorry if your kid got cut from one of Minnesota Made's teams, but try to refrain from taking it out on a complete stranger.

In the future if you see "hockeydad41" on a thread. Move on. You've got nothing to add worth reading anyway. Now get back under your rock.

"HockeyDad41" - Are you being serious with this crap? I couldn't agree more with "Doglover" make a decision and move on with your life. You must know absolutely nothing about hockey if you need to come on this board to decide to play with your association or play Choice League. I also find it humoring when people assume anyone who post anything negative about the MN Made or Choice League it must mean their kid got cut, last I checked no one gets cut from MN Made or Choice League, as long as you keep the money flowing Bernie has room for everyone.

If you don't like your associations coaching or board why don't you get on the board or strap on some skates, make a practice plan and coach some hockey?? Or better yet why don't you ask your son or daughther what they want to do? My bet is they want to play with their friends.

Maybe you should go back and read it again. Clearly some of the big words confused you.

I'm not sure what more you need to know about the Choice League.
I had all the info I needed. What I didn't need was doglovers dogcrap post out of the blue. Also didn't need your input either.
