6AA Outlook

Post by blueblood »

Blueblood's prognostications:

1) EP - State Champs will be tough to beat
2) Tonka - returning 17 players including Gardiner and Holl
3) BSM - with Meyers in net, they have a chance
4) Wayzata - incoming state bantam champs. Could they follow EP's recipe?
5) Hopkins - with Fons in net, they have a chance; but would have to pull 3 upsets to reach state. Loss of Boyd to NDTP will hurt.

This should definitely be the most loaded AA section next year. 3 teams are sure to be in the preseason top ten (maybe even top 5), while another might be up there too.

Storylines...
EP: Can the talented junior class repeat without Leddy, or will his graduation prove to be too much to overcome?
Tonka: They've had some of the best seasons of anyone over the past few years, yet haven't made it to State. Will they seize this opportunity, or will they watch someone else pass them once again?
BSM: Return Meyers, Horn, and a bunch of other talented players, but is it enough to get through a brutal section?
Wayzata: As blueblood notes, they bring in a Bantam state champion class. How well will that translate to the next level, and can they adjust quickly enough to be a force in 6AA?

I don't see Hopkins as having a real chance to win the section, but if Fons get hot at the right time they could definitely pull off an upset or two and complicate sections. This'll be a great race to watch.
