He's a 93...very solid player. Had trouble with his size this year, i think he grew 4-5 inches last summer. Great stick skills and hockey smarts. he'll do fine there. The Opperman kid who is on one of the teams was a stud for that Wayzata team, better than Lucia and Besse in my opinion...
All three of them are very good players. To bad Lucia is sticking it out at Wayzata or the whole line would be playing at Breck next year as both Besse (if he stays) and Opperman have been at Breck since kindergarden! Go Mustangs!!!!!
Where is Besse thinking about going?

its nothing more then a fun camp that try's to give the impression they have the states top players. don't get me wrong there are good players there, but as I mentioned there are also some very so so players, and alot of very good ones not on this list. Kids enjoy it, learn something, just have fun. Your playing the game you enjoy. and if your in high school, there are not many years remaining for 95% of you.
Tellit-

I understand the "real benefit" to Lucia’s camp is all the exposure opportunities. From what I heard it is very well attended by several colleges that Lucia extends invitations to, along with representation from all the USHL teams.

It does attract the vast majority of the state's best. Of course, it will never be "all" of them given the time of year, kids playing baseball, etc. As a camp, it does a much better job of putting together the state's best than any other option.

If anything, it is another good way for kids to skate in front of some college coaches and get some good knowledge on the college prep process, etc. Of course, there is some good coaching that goes on. But it is a fun event at its core. While I understand the desire to show stats, it has always been a pointless enterprise at the Model Camp. Kind of wish they'd go back to not publishing the numbers since they are seemingly overrated by some quite a bit. Early summer scrimmages, etc are not where you tend to see guys playing tough defense, etc...

I would have to say its a good camp, excellent for doing what the game is made for fun! and it has good coaching, good exposure and an overall great time.

Speaking of stirring the pot...................

Where are all the Woodbury kids?? Is this in spite of Guentzel (by the U) or in Support of him (by the Woodbury kids)?? As he helped out (ran a few practices) while these guys were in Bantams.

Since they don't send out invites - I know quite a few good players who just missed signing up and had wanted to play.

Indeed Woodbury has some players. Is it a snub or alliance? Letting a great coach go that is for another thread. Good catch there youngblood08.

I think I hear black helicopters coming... it is all a massive conspiracy.

Even if such talk were valid (which I doubt), it would be a stupid move. It does nothing to hurt the camp or the people who run it because the camp goes on, the roster spots get filled by other good players, and those kids miss out on getting more exposure to scouts, etc. Why piss away a chance to further help your future over something that happened over a year ago and few people even care about any more?

If they wanted to play, why didn't they send in an application like everyone else?

Do you even know if any woodbury players sent in applications or are you just trying to make something out of nothing?

someone mentioned stirring the pot so I thought I would lend a hand. Don't know if any Woodbury kids applied or not, if they didn't just threw out an idea for why.

Looking at the list is a good indication of not only where the talent is, but what schools (student/athletes and coaches) take hockey seriously, and those that don't.

Curious why there are only 4 EP players attending from the State Championship team? Maybe they also play baseball or a spring sport. Expected more to take advantage of this camp and it's exposure.

Or, we know where the money is. Not every parent can afford every dog and pony show!

You are right of course, as noticed are so many from the "money" schools. I meant the passion and commitment that some have and some don't.

Uh....He's a sophomore, he's pretty darn good and it's his Dad's camp seem to be three pretty good reasons!
I won't begrudge the Don letting his kid come to his camp, but looking at the rosters it looks like Mario is the only kid that played Bantam A last year. Everyone else is HS or Juniors.

There are over 20 93 birth year players at the camp. So - his age is not out of line. He may be the youngest - i didn't look that closely - but somebody has to be. at 6'1" - he apparently has the size.
